Superior Drummer 2.0

Post by dawman »

Always wanted this since most Kontakt drums suck. I got tired of buying them and have absolutely no use for them. Gigastudio had round tight low end and balls, Kontakt is better suited for instruments, etc.
But at anyrate I got the SP2+Roots for 225 USD brand new.

Check out this guys store, he must know where someone is buried, the prices are fine, but you can make an offer and even then he doesn't refuse.

Looks like I can record again as I have a difficult toime recording when the drum tracks sound like fake crap....

Cheers.

Oh the store is scitscat.

i use Stylus for more processed sounds. Toontracks and DrumCore for traditional drums.

BFD2 by fxpansion (who used to do Pulsar stuff back in the early days) is my drum choice. I was put off Superior with that awful original GUI, which I believe has changed a lot since those early days. I like the off-the-wall 8-Bit Kit. I would like more stuff like that to be honest. The Platinum Samples expansions are great too, although I haven't got any yet.

The only Kontakt drums I use are loops of old drum machines which don't require a lot of realism so sound fine (with all the horrible reverb taken off).

I have also wanted BFD but nobody ever seems to have deals on that so hopefully I won;t cringe when I try and record now.
It's really wierd how Gigastudio, so old and unsupported, can sound so much better in the Lows and highs.
I am begining to think that the streaming algorhitms have a lot to do with the audio qualtiy.
I know it's all 1s and 0s and Nullifiers will pounce on you, but things like audio smear, and jitter don't seem to be measured in Nullification tests, that's why I just trust my ears.
Let the scientists sort out the equations and shit.

Well fxpansion often have their own offers: that's how I buy all my expansions. They have some grooves too, which are handy as starting points which you can edit to taste.

In fact you can get BFD2 for 33% off at this very moment.

I can crossgrade from EZDrummer to Superior for $129. Might do that after getting the dNa plugs. Rock Solid kit is good.

BFD is the most serious option, but it is very demanding and time consuming if you want to process them, and you have to always process them anyway. They really are like having a set of clean drums, real drums I mean, great of any studio.

Now, if you are like me Jimmy, someone that needs things made fast and ready to play, and nevertheless, to be offered the capability to deeply modify a set whenever it is needed, I would strongly recommend “Addictive Drums”. It really sounds great, and honestly, there is no difference with BFD in terms of quality, only versatility for someone with a lot of time.

Addictive Drums’ price is a joy, it sounds great and it has many kits and options. Check it out:

I use only Superior 2 since they seem to have the LEAST processed samples, and sit great in the mix.
Easy to process too.
Even S2's internal compressors and EQ's are useful.

BFD and Addictive sounded too compressed to me.

Well anything is better than Scabbey Drums, or Slate's Drums where experts sitting in front of 300,000 Dollar consoles try and convince us how the software sounds better....

Exactamente.
I have heard Greg and many guys into the extremely competitive market of trailer music talking about SD2.
And since I have been frozen as far making full songs since I lost Larry Seyers Acoustic Drums, I figured quit wasting money on Girly Man drums from Kontakt and get something will balls so I can record songs again. Modular has some excellent Kick and Electro style Drums, I am MasterBETA testing an incredible Percussion library that in itself I can record rhythm tracks.
Finally a library with Mark Tree, and Conga PBends, all controllable.
A little more Orchestral stuff and I'll be there...

Anyone tried Jamstix? Not sure how the sound quality matches up with the others but i sure like playing with the AI portion of it. For a non drummer keyboardist who is foot spastic, it gets me a lot further than trying to tap it all out by hand.
