Hi,
I set up my system with Pulsar + SRB and Cubase SX.
Main problem:
Device Manager says on IDE Channel that it runs in "PIO only" ALTHOUGH I already set the parameter to "DMA if possible".
The controller/diks of course is capable to use DMA.
SIS K7S5A Mainboard +
Standard UDMA 66 IDE disk.
Any ideas and tweaks?
Thanks in advance,
EC-HQ.
Win XP doesn't want IDE to switch to DMA
Does your BIOS have a setting 'DMA disabled' or 'PIO only' for that drive?

BIOS is set up correctly, because this setting worked fine with Win98.
With Win98 and Cubase 5.1 I got 48 mono tracks playing without any problem.
With WinXP stuttering occurs even at 10 tracks!!
I don't want to go back to Win98/Cubase 5.1 because Cubase SX has features I ever dreamt of.
The BIOS disk parameters were detected correctly by the BIOS itself.
I also did the registry tweak in Win XP for enabling UDMA66. But nothing changes.

could this be a mobo driver issue ?

Wasn't this better put in the tech forum? Anyway, go to

Last I checked they had a very good FAQ for your motherboard
In that FAQ is a download link to a small file named siside.exe
Download it
Run it
