inKOMPLETE 9

KOMPLETE 9 was released. But also KOMPLETE 9 ULTIMATE. Doesn't that imply KOMPLETE, well, isn't?

I think it implies that "komplete" is being used to describe a sensation, rather than a measurement. Like you may feel komplete with your significant other... Just how komplete is that? Hard to say.

But, now that they've used the word "ultimate"... it's hard to top that.

After a few hours, i think the monark is a few kilometers above the diva.
the diva looks like it but doesn't sound at all like it. it cannot be said to emulate any minimoog/roland thing, at least not the ones i played. but it is a great, clean substractive synth.
The monark is much closer. it deserves to be called an emulation/model, eventhough so far, i still play a vsti, no doubt about that.. it doesn't seem to draw huge cpu amounts.
It is also a step above the Minimax, it is "cleaner", less round, doesn't have this medium in the resonance, but it is still software and doesn't bass your belly like a real analog. at least, my own.
One has to master the new additions to the circuit (feedback, distortion etc) to really get where the monark is taking you. I am not yet there myself, but it looks like there are ways.
Finally, the solid Eq is really really nice. precise and all. i didn't use the other ssl emu yet.

also, not in Komplete but only in ultimate or as standalone: you should check the RC reverbs. I think it is the best plugins that were released under NI brand recently.
Simply the best reverbs i can use. And I prefer the RC24 over the RC48, eventhough every pro reverb person will tell you the RC48 is amazing... i still haven't tamed it, the RC24 is much simpler, and it is not a "light" version of the RC48, but a different model.
Ask Martin what he thinks about them, and I heard that Casey (Bricasti) also posted positive opinions about them. What I say myself, is that i don't need third party opinions to hear that they are obviously superior software reverbs that cut through and adapt to any situation.
The VariComp are really great too, it really gives a nice touch to voices, allowing to bring forward vibes that are harder to get without them.
I would advise checking the RC Verbs in any case, komplete or not.

Battery has been updated. I use that a lot. The Solid Mix series has some new effects. If spacef says the EQ is so great, those two features I mentioned seem like it's worth the $150 upgrade to me. EQ is very important and I am never happy with the EQ I get in Cubase 7. I make a lot of samples and will be using a Zoom H4n recorder so the cleanup ability of Solid Dynamics will be essential.

Other than the new synthesizer (if you need that kind of thing), the upgrade from Komplete 8 to 9 doesn't seem that sexy but it's the meat and potatoes that I look for.

Check out the EQ demo in "2/2 Drum Presence." It clearly sounds much better even on these cheap speakers I'm using.

I might check the RC's out. Casey always compliments anyone but he did give some exta praise which caught my attention.
Besides I have so much overhead in CPU power I may as well try it.
I bought some DLM8's and a 12Sub on a 30 day demo and took them back after they got too flappy from my SE-1/EML-101 death waves. But the DLM8's had built in effects and the chorus was really ceel as it had sample delay built in to give it a neat effect, but o nce again heavily "lauded" Reverb by drummers and vocalists I know sounded like feathers. I can;t think of a better word than Feathered Hall, or something muffly, but it sounded like shit, and these new cabinets seem made for VSTis and Analog synths are breaking them down.
I am now demo'ing the QSC 12s w/o a sub, and so far they are very impressive.
I might need to try and get the RCs as I refuse to buy any plug ins with dongles.

Jimmy, QSC should be good. I also have liked my JBL EON 15's for several years now. They never overheat, never fail, never got lost in the mud, and are damn light for 15in drivers. I also dig the positioning options: upright, stand, monitors, etc.

SOLID EQ, SOLID BUS COMP are integrated into Battery 4 so you don't have to launch Guitar Rig. That's nice. "The Giant" piano actually has prepared piano and some very strange effects. It's recorded from the Klavin 370i which is an upright piano so big that you need stairs to get to the keyboard and it's built into the wall:

I already had Session Strings as a freebie. It's good. Haven't used it yet. Could come in handy for commercial work.

What's new:

MONARK
BATTERY 4
THE GIANT
SOLID EQ
SOLID BUS COMP
SOLID DYNAMICS
SESSION STRINGS
