Waldorf Rocket

Post by neuromantik »

Hello

I'm thinking of buying a Rocket because the filter sounds great, it's cheap, and I think it will play nice with my Xite :)

So before plunging I wanted to get some advice on what anyone might think of it (I'm buying it more as a standalone filter like the 4pole rather than "another" synth) but more importantly I'm curious if many people are mixing hw & scope and how I would go about making them work well together..

I've always thought that the waldorf afb16 was an amazing idea and I want to try to get the same idea (except only 1 voice) with modular IV and the waldorf multimode filter 8)

Any thoughts?

the recent demos on youtube are really great.
For the price, I don't see what can go wrong.
It looks cool to make bass as well as plucked/treble sounds.
The chord function is not really fantastic, we have that on scope (blackbox chord oscillators), but here it is done with a trick of a single oscillator.
You have also more waves than just saw/triangle/square/ and the other classics.
The only very serious problematic issue, is that it might lead you to want more of those little analog synth-boxes.

i would buy one eyes-closed if i didn't have enough to keep me buzy (3 full analogs + all the software synths) as well as a Les Paul in the purchase list.

the headphone plug is apparently total crap and noisy, whereas the "real" output is super clean.
Good licks :-) (it's not a matter of luck, or is it ?)

Thanks for the feedback :) By any chance, are you still selling your blackbox2 kit (and does it work with Xite)?
The only analog I have is a PEK, and it's not what I would call a real analog, so I think the Rocket might be an interesting addition, and it's cheap!! :)

I think the Rocket's oscillators are digital, and only the filter is analogic. Not sure about the envelopes etc.
If you are looking for fully analog synths, the cheaper are the doepfer darkenergy, dsi mopho, moog minitaur....

Blacbox II: many things still work fine in xite, but some are big and should be optimized to share ressources in xite.
I haven't had any real issue though, but I mostly used effects like delays, filters etc.
The synth don't sound analog :-)
