OK, I am going to try to be hip and against all of my inner instincts is thinking about using an iPad to help arrange presets and control my live rig.
Is anybody doing this...?
And please explain how I would build up BankLSB/MSB and PrgmChng change parameters.
Alesis has a really decent looking docking station for the iPad, so I am thinking about trying to get hip. But if this piece of shit crashes while I am playing I swear I will give it a Viking Funeral after stomping it into the sidewalk out front.
So, what's so cool about this approach...
pardon the rant, but I fear change.

Re: iPad 4/Live
5ms latency sure won't keep up with my hamster speed Prgm Chng fingers.
I use to hit presets on the Oberheim OBX (top of B3) and CS80 (top of Yamaha CP80) at the same time while still reaching my parts, so these little touchy feely screens just might not handle my stabs. Which is why I am considering this

The BCF is really good for this too, but having something right on my keyboard is the goal.
It will send info to the Casio PX-5S controller, which spits out 4 new zones w/ BankMSB/LSB and snapshots instantly.
Solaris also can do this, but I would have to insert Bank #112 each time first, then other keystrokes so it gets too complicated and I really don't want to be replacing Solaris NumPad from my stabs. Rather use it for Solaris presets which are a simple press/press enter.

You may prefer real tactile knobs n buttons over the flat surface of the iPad.
But the iPad is good for plenty of other things that will make you hip.
But if you smash it into pieces you may reveal my motherboard

Re: iPad 4/Live
Do you need display of preset names, or just the buttons? Seems like for $250, you can get a QuNeo with the MIDI expander, and have not only the buttons, but some other touch pad/controllers for effects or modulation control. Or aSoftStep do do the switches and performance with your feet.
Re: iPad 4/Live
Lemur can handle this easy.
Create nice huge buttons which sends array of bank changes.
I would love to buy an alesis idock, however its not supporting sysex, which i find rather important.
But in your case it should not be a problem (unless you have some epic requirements in your live setup).
