Syncplate Destination : Cannot Find corresponding Hardware

Post by MrV »

Hello ,

I've got VDAT / VRC 128 running ( S-C v5.1 ) to work on some adat projects .

Connection from Luna card to Syncplate hardware is done via the ADAT expansion board .

Problem : I can load Syncplate Source module ok but I cannot load Syncplate Destination module ..I get the
error mssg 'Cannot find corresponding Hardware'

I just bought this Luna card from a friend and notice it seems to be the old generation Luna card ( circa 2000 )
I then saw in the Scope manual this reference:: 'Important note: The Home ADAT Expansion is verified for SCOPE
Home boards only. On "older" Luna2 boards Creamware could not guarantee full functionality'

Could this be why I cannot access the Dest module in the project window ?

( btw , I have 2 syncplate cards , either of them work perfectly in my main Scope v4.5 system )

Regards , Michael

I'm not a tech guy, but this could be the case, yes.

Do you see the syncplate as 'unnamed' sources 5 and 6 in the "Sample rate" dialog?
Not because it is easy, but because it is hard...

OK, I'll have to check how my own system is saying with the Syncplate Source and Dest devices later tonight, but I recall that those devices didn't work on my system - I slave Scope to an External clock, which I can see as 'src 5' or something like that in the Sample Rate dialog... I'll let yiz know...

Others may know this stuff better than me...

never used that module....well, maybe for ADATs, but they only work at 48k and the hardware brc is undependable, i think i gave that up.

exactly how is the syncplate connected to the Luna? if you don't have the external clock source available in the samplerate window, it's not there. i don't think the Luna has a syncplate connector.

I've been using the VRC128 for the past approx 10 years in Scope 3.1c then 4.5 ... works perfectly .
( I make sure to avoid the adat recording sessions , those machines are so slow it drives me nuts )
My production partner just brings the machine ,,or 2 machines , to me then we run it all in to Cubase
via the Scope sync setup . Sessions are at 48k which I prefer anyway and I don't bother with BRC .

As you know Gary I've been wanting to build a portable system so I can go and get the audio , my main
studio system is not portable . So I got this Luna card w VDAT on it . I then noticed it doesn't have
anywhere to connect the syncplate card ... but the adat expansion board does . I have another system
with more recent Luna cards, running v4.5 and this setup works ... syncplate source and destination
modules load properly etc .

A Luna2 card from 2000 , 12 yr old card would be one of the "older boards" yes ?

Cheers , Michael

no, all Lunas are 2nd generation.

bad cable, broken or a need to rerun the installer...
