Microsoft SyncToy

Keep your songs backed up and current. This should have been included in Windows:

SyncToy 2.1 is a free application that synchronizes files and folders between locations. Typical uses include sharing files, such as photos, with other computers and creating backup copies of files and folders.

I used it time ago to sync my backup disks (software, music, pics, clips, docs).
Don't remember exactly if it was an earlier version, and I probably used some custom setting, I anyway got duplicate files issues, or something.

Have a look here for some alternative with validation capabilities

(if I remember right, there's even some setting for backup data integrity check only)

Under the advanced setting there is an option to delete duplicates.

My troubles with sync tasks should has been due to changes in the directories structure or directory names, though I never went throughly into the issues.
I've to check the duplicate deletion option.
Actually in recent times I've been less concerned in offline sync and more in online check/validation and of course sync

it's the important first step in getting all of everyone's data in the "clouds", caught in a "web". the plan is to have everything neural networked into the population. that can't be done until people get used to everything in their lives online, so the current movement is towards only having a terminal in one's home and office/workspace. software won't involve having a copy and there'll be no downloads, only a price to pay to authorize use. all your data and personal records and entertainment will be served from your data provider. there are a number of obvious advantages to this system, convienience being the biggest.

in the beginning, only the brave could enjoy the use of computers. now people who shouldn't have such a dangerous item can get a decent one in a thrift store. by next week, there will be no choice...

It's nothing like Dropbox. All it does is make sure a pair or pairs of folders have the same contents. You don't have to remember if you made backups of your files only to sync them. The sync is done manually.

@Garyb

That's a long way to go here. At now we're still provided with asymmetric DSL; usually, bandwidth for non commercial purpose is (nominally) 7Mb/s download 512Mb/s upload, which (flat) rate is around 40 Euros/month, telephony included.
I've got around 320Mb upload and less than 6Mb download as effective bandwidth, when all runs fine.

It looks somehow like we are more allowed to 'absorb' contents than fully express ourselves.

Sorry, I'm going OT but I feel like I need to say it

It could be by chance, though in this country the one that declares the largest turnover, which is also the one that totalled the longest time sitting on the premier armchair (3340 days!) since kingdom times ...well, this man owns three TV networks, some publishing group and AFAIK is also into TV contents production/distribution.
