Pulsar2: what problems with a missing-detached capacitor?

Post by Polarity »

Hello.
what problems do you think that a detached-missing capacitor could give to a Pulsar 2?
It got unstuck during shipping when I got it (second hand) in december 2005:
so it's 7 years it worked without that
and for now it seemed not to be a big problem for the card.
But I wonder...
Thanks in advance :)

I attach photo for evaulation:
as you can see it's the one in the center

its a bypass cap for the nearest chip

they are there to smooth out any ripple in the dc by giving a constant voltage the cap charges up and the voltage 5v or 3 v then becomes a steady voltage

they will work with out them they are put there as added benefit to keep a constant voltage to the ic

they dont leave enough room for putting a adjacent card you would need a slot free for that card

I have put the heat synks.. :P
on Pulsar 2 and on Pulsar 1 card as well.
They are specific for chipsets-
They are not tall... they are lower than the Pulsar2 connectors board.
no problems of room with adjacent cards.
Infact I had two adjacent Pulsar cards for all these years.

Thankyou for the reply.
I guessed it could be inherent to voltage.
So working with one missing can give a crackle in audio sometimes?

maybe, but probably not. there is redundancy in the system. if you know the direction the cap was sitting in, you could replace it...

well it should be the same as the others near..
however when I looked in the box a week ago I didn't find the capacitor: I was sure I had left it inside. :-?
I remember that it fits back in the right way in his location.

it's not a special cap. you should be able to find another. put it in the wrong way and it'll explode, though....
