Hi there!
I have some problems with my Pulsar card, and its driving me crazy. Hope someone can help. Sorry for bad english.
I have a Pulsar card. Been using it since 2003 on and off. No problems since then. I installed my card on a new system.
I installed the software 4.0. No problem. The system detects it and everythings is fine. Sounds come out from the outputs and the meter in the mixer shows lights.
But then I use Cubase SX3 (old i know) as a sequencer. When i start Cubase the load up image starts, loading and initializing the vsti and stuff, but then it comes to Initializing: Sim and a Installation Error screen shows up. It says
" Hardware version 12 detected. This version requires a software update. Please consult the installation guide."
It gives an option to click ok, if i do it another Installation error screen pops up saying:
"Cannot start software because board or drivers not properly installed. Please check installation"
Ive tried everything, with Scope v.3.1 Cubase SX3, Scope 4.0, Scope 4.5, Cubase 5.1 etc. etc.
Please help me! Ive never had these kinds of problems.
Cheers Nico

Re: Help please! Pulsar and Cubase problem. Error messages.
is XTC mode enabled?
do you have the Scope running before opening Cubase? there is an ASIO patch for v4, but it should only affect Cubase 4 and higher.
http://sonic-core.net/downloads/asiosco ... _patch.zip
even without the patch, you should be able to open Cubase with wave drivers.
strange, there doesn't seem to be an issue....

Re: Help please! Pulsar and Cubase problem. Error messages.
I'd suspect a zombie driver, that slipped unnoticed during various installs
Cubase seems to have picked that up, but the corresponding hardware isn't found
(don't remember exactly, but this version thing came up only if no card was present on my sysytem)
it should be possible to interrupt Cubase while checking whatever and switch to the driver dialog
cheers, Tom

Garyb: I have XTC mode unticked. Should i enable it?
I always open Scope before Cubase, so yes its open.
Astroman: might be some kind of zombiedriver...but how do i actually "interrupt Cubase while checking whatever and switch to the driver dialog". Please explain
Now i got this new error message (only appeared once) while trying to open cubase (id seen it before, thats why i suspected something with the drivers of Scope)
Internal error
"ScopeDriverIoctl (1036) returned error code -99"
I now have Scope 3.1 installed and Cubase SX3.

Re: Help please! Pulsar and Cubase problem. Error messages.
basically, it's saying that the driver isn't connecting to the hardware. drivers don't suddenly go bad, but the files relating to them can. run both installers again and see if it fixes the problem. don't uninstall, just install over the top. before you do that, you could remove the card, start the computer, turn off the computer, return the card and restart the computer. this will reinstall the driver.
the chances are that hard and software are ok for Scope at least, since the software starts. if there is a problem, the software usually won't run.

Re: Help please! Pulsar and Cubase problem. Error messages.
Ok! Problem solved.
I installed windows xp sp2 all over again, (earlier running sp3), i cannot pinpoint what is was that solved the problem though.
Installed Scope 3.1 software with the ASPI 4.71 layer. Then installed cubase sx3 and hadra cadabra the problem was solved, ive managed to get into cubase.
I send this message as thanks to garyb and astroman for helping. And for others running on jurassic era software as i do, if they encounter the same problems.
Thanks!
Nico
