sonic core registration?
I've emailed sonic core all my deatails to register my card to me and just wondered how long they usually take to get back to you with all the codes for the card? Just I can't get it running without them so wondered if anyone on here would know how long they usually take?
Re: sonic core registration?
there's no registration for the old cards. Sonic|Core didn't make the PCI cards, they only archive the old software and keyfiles as a goodwill service. your card was made by Creamware and they are out of business. S|C is not Creamware.
if you need a replacement keyfile, it takes from a day or so, to several weeks depending on how much work there is for the one person who has to make all keyfiles manually. when there are many requests it takes quite a bit longer. Sonic|Core is not a big team of guys, it's literally a handfull of people.
keyfiles go with the cards, NOT the owners. if you purchased an card from someone, they should have given you the keyfile. when you get the replacement keyfile, be sure to make a few backups.
Sonic|Core did produce new software for the old cards, for those who wish to use them with windows 7. a new keyfile for the new software(v5.1) should see a keyfile in a day to two days. if you purchased v5.1 and have been waiting a long time, then something has gone wrong. you should send a short email inquiring about your keyfile that includes your order number or the receipt for your bank transfer and the card's serial number.

Re: sonic core registration?
I just received a card from another person but don't have the keyfile (as yet). I can ask but am I correct in that if I purchase 5.1 that a new keyfile will need to be generated anyway, since I'm not particularly keen on using XP if I don't have to because the price for 5.1 is good.
Secondly, in the case of purchasing 5.1, is a keyfile not generated immediately and you must wait until after the sale has gone though or was entering my serial number in my "Personal Page" enough.
Thanks

Re: sonic core registration?
afaik there is no more personal page for ages...
if you buy a 2nd hand card, you should receive a keyfile from the seller
in case you don't receive it, SC might be able to retrieve it by the card's hardware serial number
if you buy a new card (there may be still some out on some forgotten shelf)
then you have to tell SC about the hardware serial number and they will generate the key as a service
guessing from your other post if that card is a 6DSP SRB then it's special anyway.
Those cards have been sold for greately reduced prices as extension to existing systems
They have no software whatsoever and in fact cannot even run Scope on their own normally.
There's a certain jumper you'll have to set on the card, to tell it that no IO is available.
it's abit messy as you've spread your news over several threads
if that SRB is your one and only card, I'd add any other with IO and software, even the old 4 DSPs are ok for that
but you may also have a version that was sold as XTC for Asio use (similiar to a Powercore) which came with software indeed
which is impossible to tell just from the label 'SRB' alone
cheers, Tom

Re: sonic core registration?
Thanks for the heads up (glad I didn't buy SRB on it's own).
I will probably want another card at some point but I guess rather than putting S|C staff out, I should probably just get 5.1.
Heck, for the price it is now it is cheaper than any other DSP solution and does more it seems anyway.
I'd be keen for a wordclock plate, as I'd love to set up a machine for the Steinberg VST System Link.
I do have TC Powercore but am not sure if our mate Hagen will make a non-legacy driver and there always seems to be problems running multiple PCI/PCIe cards.
