Issue with WC lock on pulsar2/syncplate

Post by vien »

Hi,

I've got a pulsar 2+sync plate and i'm trying to slave it to a lucid genx192 word clock master. The lucid is set at 44.1khz master and connected to the syncplate via BNC. But in SCOPE i've set it to slave via 'src 6' which is the syncplate wordclock, the result is it flickers in and out and displays 96khz??. If i set the lucid to 96khz then SCOPE locks and syncs ok. My creamware noah ex slave locks fine at 44.1khz, also a swissonic a/d converter locks ok at 44.1khz. One other device that fails lock is the behringer ada8000 converter.

With a different wordclock generator (art design syncgen), the pulsar syncplate locks at 44.1khz to 96khz fine, and all other devices sync ok.

I'm lost at what's the problem. What do you guys reckon? Both setups use the same cabling - hosa word clock cables.

help!

are there any other devices in the chain or is the only connection between the lucid and syncplate?

if Scope syncs to every device but two, i'm suspicious about what the two are putting out. does the ada8000 sync to the lucid properly? will the noah sync to the lucid or ada8000?

Each device is directly linked to the lucid clock unit via a seperate word clock cable, tried hosa, generic and an apogee cable, no difference.

The syncplate syncs ok when slaved to art design syncgen via wordclock (44.1k), also syncs ok via wordclock from the swissonic converter (44.1k). It just fails with the lucid clock, in SCOPE it flickers at 96k (when it should be 44.1k). The creamware noah syncs ok via wordclock with the lucid, as does the swissonic converter. It just fails with the pulsar 2 syncplate and also the behringer ada8000 converter.

well, that's very strange.
the Lucid may have x2 outputs that might be the problem, but the Berhinger...

unfortunately, there is probably nothing that can be done if the Lucid unit is working properly. S|C doesn't have parts to fix the syncplate, assuming it is broken(and it's doubtful that it is, if it works with all those other devices).

it's not a software issue. the software works with everything i throw at it in my own studio.
