I have no idea why W7 Ultimate is doing this, but for some reason out of nowhere, my system I gig with is doing a complete Back up of everything on my E Drive.
This made me nervous as Scope would normally boot immediately, and then it does take a minute to load everything.
But now my Scope thingy takes a minute or so before it shows up, and it's then when I saw my E Drive (Samsung SSD 830 128GB for 110 USD @ newegg.com ) has a folder Image, the James PC name, and some wired target ID.
I cannot get this to stop, and hope one of you guys knows how to stop this...

Help A Brotha Out..

A wild guess - but -
Is there anything in your Group Policy editor related to this ?

Re: Help A Brotha Out..
Is it a program that is loading and then i starts backup up? or is it just going on completely in the background with no 3rd party software involvement?
Re: Help A Brotha Out..
I got this from letting NI Service Center into my DAW as an update was waiting and snuck in or something, I have checked the box for no updates, and it still managed to get in.
I am reading throught the microsoft links and what Dante provided, hopefully I can get this disabled, as writing to an SSD wears it out much quicker than just having a static template of instruments that do not need updating....

Re: Help A Brotha Out..
Run msconfig from the "run" promt. Disable all things you dont need under the tab "startup".
Maybe that will do the trick?:)

Re: Help A Brotha Out..
probably, windows backup has been activated accidentaly.
go to start/control panel/system and security/backup and restore. deactivate windows backup if it's running.

Re: Help A Brotha Out..
That was it, but I never even opened or viewed that option before.
The reason I was pissed is because I swore to myself I would never go online with this latest build. I still haven't used it live as I am concerned with the stability of the on die GPU.
Performance of a Z77 using the GPU isn't even noticable, but if you overclock the GPU, which I don't do, it raises voltages on the CPU and other areas, or so I have read. This is why I should have waited for the Haswell, but this 1U works really well w/ 32GBs and stock speeds, air cooling, etc.
I was using the internet PC and then transferring the files via USB, but it required climbing stairs, etc. So my laziness was the problem.
I remember a message from M$ that I should allow this update, which I also disable, but with NI Service Center I though what the hell, but this OS update had to be the culprit.
But all is good now.
I was nervous as writing to SSDs or even the hybrid OS+Apps drives for audio guys should be done only when absolutely necessary.
Thanks...

sure.
maybe some programmer thought he was doing you a favor. maybe the machine is getting too intelligent and it's helping you out...

Are you using the 1U to run Scope live ?
I thought this hadnt been done before !
If it has, I need update article.

I am flat broke and waiting for my better half to say we have extra money.
Braces were out of pocket and back to school nooks, Hockey gear and the 1U build jackef her off into Spartan lifestyles, unless of course her fancy food or make up are concerned.
Any ways it's a PCI-e 1X for the XITE-1, not a PCI 32bit card.
And yes, M$ is just as bad as the Government offering help, they could fuck up a steel ball.

Re: Help A Brotha Out..
Isn't it convenient that we must upgrade to Windows 8 to take advantage of the " bug free " IE10.
I hate M$, Apple all of these lying sons of beotches....
I would pay hundreds for a S|C upgrade where we use thier operating system, and then maybe they could sell native versions of that for NI users like the Muse Receptors use, and rid ourselves of these Zionists...

Re: Help A Brotha Out..
It's completely insane to make the shift to win 8 IMO. It's WAY to soon. W7 is not by any means old. And win 8 is 128 bit. Geez. Alot of People are still waiting for 64 bit drivers for audio an non audio stuff.. I really long for the good old days when updates would only be based on bugs. Not a new "we are going to make this new software that uses even more of your CPU!! Plus you get pretty much no new features!".
Rant over..
