I really like how the Uhe synths sound, zebra and diva.. just wondering how many of you use them? I'm thinking about getting Zebra esp since it's modular-ish.
I just got sylenth, which for some reason I had always dismissed as a boring synth because of its super plain structure. I played with the demo and immediately purchased. These seem to be in a completely different league compared to other vsti synths.. of course, they're different from scope synths, but much better than other native synths.

i like the silynth
the walfgang palm plex2 which is free is a great synth pc only though
palm made a resynthesis program that takes samples and makes a additive wavetable and noise part
but he never released it as waldorf brought it and is there sample transform engine used in the blofeld
razor is special as is imageline hamour

I’m happy to realize I’m not the only one to appreciate Uhe’s as being among the best sounding VSTis on the industry. I find their synths extraordinary, way beyond anything VST related, except compared with some of the Arturia synths which I find pretty good as well but definitely not as good as theirs.
Uhe synths are musical! I tend to think on them as “instruments” rather than just synths, that is the point to me. There are hundreds of synths out there that are good enough for experimentation and if you work hard you can eventually make them sound ok or good, but they sound so similar to each other, so plastic, unmoving, that I don’t see them as creative tools, but as 10 minutes toys because after the first 10 minutes of use you know there is not much to do with them, whatever you do, the character of the sound is cheap, you have to trash them sooner or later. Uhe’s are very musical tools, inspiring, and the texture and sounds that come out of these instruments tend to be warm, articulated and alive so they push you to compose and create on an ongoing momentum.
I think that if you try to save money buying little synths badly programmed, very cheap stuff sometimes but uninspiring and plastic, you are wasting your money and your time, you better get one of the Uhe instruments and you’ll be very happy you did! Their tools are not only to make up weird noises like most VSTis synth do, but musical, artistically creative textures.
Definitely, my highest respect to these amazing artistic and creative musical instruments! They deserve my highest recommendation!

+1 Nestor! it's really a large reason for me investing in scope. The sounds and especially modular, are so much more musical than simply clinical PhD disertation experiments.
I have a similar feeling about granular synthesis, btw. It has potential, but ends up being a 10 minute exploration, rather than a musical endeavor.

And there is a ZebraHZ a version of the Zebra with also filters from the Diva synth.
You can hear it in the latest Batman movie. If you can get a bundle, look at the Uhbik effects from Uhe.

oh ya, I guess there's Arturia. I never really thought of their synths as sounding especially good, just very clean and pure, and perhaps very technologically sophisticated in terms of modeling. Also specifically modeling a particular synth seemed a bit off putting for me since I'm not too attached to those synths. But I guess if I really wanted a cs-80, I'd get it from Arturia. I'm sort of over simulations though, and prefer synths that have their own identity and sound.
Same with their drums (Spark).. I was thinking of getting it for a while, but they try so hard to organize everything by the classic brands and model names... I'm sure the synth engine driving it is quite powerful, I would have much preferred they brought that to the center of attention. Instead the message is more like "get the the most authentic 808, 909 etc sound ever brought to man kind". Well, truth is, I don't give a damn about 909 any more. I can make most of the analog drum sounds using modular (and make them suite my liking) so they're no mystery to me. But I'd care if arturia's engine had a particular sound, or a particular capability/characteristic.. an identity. At the other end of the spectrum, fxpansion's Tremor is exactly that. It's got an awesome engine, and a personal statement. It's got its own thing going on.

The Spark controller layout is quite good. I wish the sequencer could be built in the controller to work as a hardware Midi drumseq ...
