Got a new Listening DAC PCM1794A

Post by Fluxpod »

So i went and made the step without even hearing it first.Ordered direct from Ross and compared it with a lavry da 10 a benchmark dac and my now 12 year old multiface.
Testing involved: sessions-sacd-beer-mp3 and more beer. All was levelmatched to 0.1db.
I have choosen the PCM1794A to stay! Its not only way way better than my Multiface da.Its also 100% on par with the lavry and the benchmark.Small Tonal Differences but as that is pure taste...the Quality,3d stage an what other buzzwords maybe occur.Short: Its fucking fantastic. And its 179$. :D

Jim williams got me on these. That guy is takin evaluation boards and makes a dac outta them. Smokes the 1100€ Alternatives! No kidding.Listen and get one.He does all sorts of custom shit on them aswell op amp choice etc.Its a no caps direct couple design with 129db dynamic range. For a smear 179 bucks.....epic!

I ain't much into the Scientific stuff, but the studio I frequent here loves using the Lavry and Neve mic pres as their front end on the SSL4000G+ or DAW.
Since you are a trained proffessional, I take your word, and my kid stole my FMRs, so 325 USD for 1U is a steal.

Giving this a bump.Had a lot of time Listening now and i am still Impressed.Best 179$ i have spend in quite some time. :)

So if you do want a 2ch da...look no further. And you buy from a small shop where you can talk to the developer, choose the op amps used and so on.

I plan on getting my boy a couple of used DSP cards in a couple of weeks, and this was also on my mind. I remember the difference from the cards to the XITE-1 so I am glad you bumped this, as small developers are always my preferred way to do business.
Guys who gets thier hands dirty take serious pride in their products.

Thanks for the Bump............
