I do love the gymnastics, womes volleyball and womens soccer. No desire to watch men rolling around on top of each other in wrestling, judo, etc.
But some great soccer, and hats off to the Brits women boxer, just the kind of gal I could feel safe in a bar with...

We are getting close to the end, so when do they start executing the losers...?

Despite all the nationalism, it's been great watching the American women kick ass.
Men's volleyball and water polo fell out of contention, leaving only the Lebrons to win the Gold.

Rio Summer Olympics will be full of attractive people and better weather.

Well I have to say it's all been jolly good. I thought London was going to be a nightmare but the centre is really quiet (the action's happening out East), so I bought myself a new bike to enjoy the late summer we're finally getting. It's also nice that we're winning a few medals for a change, which when you consider the might of the USA, China and Russia is not a bad achievement.

Oh, and Morrissey can fuck off.

And FWIW the only real highlight of the opening ceremony was hearing all the classic songs that came out of the UK.

God, I doubt the mighty Bush will appear, I'd probably cry if she did as I won't be there. I also enjoyed the insertion of humour into the ceremony which I don't think any other country has ever done (certainly not China) which I think is the UK's other great legacy.

I do like it when a nation the size of the UK slugs it out with the 3 largest nations and does such a fine job. I think that ya'll got 4th in the amount of medals, that's great, especially since you guys did all of the work hosting....

I can't stand Mr Bean and yet even I was laughing (and I was working on a live show myself so we had to watch it with the sound off). Plus how many countries would get their Queen/head of state to sky dive in with James Bond? And play the Sex Pistol's 'God Save The Queen' in front of the Queen? In China you'd be disappeared for a stunt like that.

Guys like him and Month Python were the inspiration to Howard Stern and many comedians and shock jocks over here.
The Beatles were extremely inspirational, and even helped the young generation then get a sense of worth during their protests on Vietnam....

But they really need to do mock executions as a grand finale....

I was getting bored with all the build up to the games, thinking "here we go again - build up the Brits and then we flop badly" but it has been a great success, both in terms of medals for us Brits and the way the whole show has been celebrated. Nice to see a part of the world having fun together.

Loved watching Andy Murray demolish Djokovic & Federer ('tho I'm not sure tennis ought to be in the games)
Loved watching the cycling team win indoors and out
Loved watching the women's beach volleyball - not sure who won but I never concentrated on the games
Loved lots of other bits too.
Wish I'd bought some tickets

Hope Brazil & Rio gets it's act together in time else it'll be a case of
Land of 'ope 'n glory to land of open sewers.

To see Team GB in 3rd place in the medals table is staggering. I'm old enough (well, too old really) to remember the East German and Soviet Bloc dominance of just about everything.
I can remember the USA changing the medals table too, so they were above USSR in total medals, even though behind in the number of golds. So to see GB in 3rd is great.

IMHO they should have included Def Leppard, not only arguably the best Brit invasion export of the 80's (w/ top selling album 'Hysteria' with almost every song a charting single) and the song 'Rocket' would have provided a pantomime backdrop for at least half a dozen of the greatest babyboomer rock acts from 60's up to then in one hit.

I tried watching it in real time with a friend in London via Skype, but he was having 'bandwidth issues'.

I thought the Spice Girls were a cool touch even if it was lip synced or pre recorded.
Our Superbowls have gone that way on many occassions, as I see the players or stars forget their place, yet the voice sounds great when the mouth is closed......

THey actually lip synced so good I might be wrong, but no IEMs or wedges is a sign, but the aerial Monitors could have been suspended like the old overhead Boom mic's like the Tonight SHow or something.....

At any rate I always liked those corny all chick shows, I actually miss playing in all chick band, they attracted more women that the schmucks I work with.....
