Studio Monitor Technical Comparison - MSP5 & KRK Rockit 6
Re: Studio Monitor Technical Comparison - MSP5 & KRK Rockit
yes, i meant behind you. you can put one between the speaks in front of you as well. a couple behind you, one directly on each side of you and one in front, with maybe one or two directly over you....

Thanks Gary-This has been so confusing for me to get my head round...
The plan is now taking shape- There are some space limitations and a mixture of what you've advised will be implemented over the next X amount of weeks.
Bass traps
foam wedge panels
diffusers, large and small.
Due to limitations of space I'll put one large diffuser on the wall in front of me and one large one behind - two on the ceiling as well quite close by the ones on the wall.
On another wall will go another large diffuser-
Above the window will go one or two mini diffusers.
When its installed I'll put some pics up-It won't be perfect but I'm sure it'll look more than good enough and improve things as much as possible which is the main objective....

you'll be able to hear what you are doing much better. you'll get better mixes once you figure it all out, too.

Re: Studio Monitor Technical Comparison - MSP5 & KRK Rockit
OK-
-The Auralex foam has arrived-Just had a peep inside the boxes to see what'll be going up on the walls. The Studio foam panels have a triangular shape pattern on them which got me thinking is there a set way to put these onto the wall??? -
Is it best to have the pattern all lined up nicely for all the inter-connecting panels? facing the same way? or alternating perhaps?
The bass traps look really chunky......
......these go up either vertical or horizonrtal...no probs there.....
Was informed it may take six weeks for these to arrive - actually more like two........thats cool...saves some time.....

it's not that crucial, make them look nice.

Ah OK - All the lines going the same way? - downwards?
For the diffusers I've read somewhere its good to rotate them-So for example, there are going to be four of them with the same design-They can be set slightly differently so they "catch" the frequencies/waves and disperse them in different directions-
Also there are some DST-R tiles (diffuser) which are smaller and less costly too! - so there will be a selection of these too fill in some blanks-
Some additional Bass traps-Then when they're up I'll see how it all looks and sounds!-
For the fixture of these I've decided not to use the supplied glue but instead buy some Auralex temp. tabs which I think are a combi. of velcro and some adhesive so it will -de-face the walls less and also have less-affect on the Auralex foam if they need to be moved-eg.won't tear them to bits....
Even though its meant to be temporary
it will be semi-permanent-
On a slightly different note the Xite-1 has been shipped but not received yet. Alot of thought has gone into this....which is basically just a normal room at home......
