Latency (s)

Post by JoPo »

Hi..

When changing ULLI settings, you change the asio latency... Right ? And it doesn't seem to affect the direct input (like analog input or else)... Right ?

So the asio sound is allways a bit late with the direct input ?

If you set ULLI at 13ms, does it mean the asio is 13 ms late with direct inputs ?

Another specific latency question : I kept my pci boards for them i/o (especially inputs) and send the pci sound to Xite via adat... What could be the latency when arriving in Xite ?

Thanks to experts !

yes, ulli affects asio latency not the card's inputs.

whether or not this latency sounds "late" depends on how you monitor.

if you monitor the Scope mixer and are playing along with soind from the sequencer via asio, the sound DOES take the ulli setting(like 13ms) to get to the card, but you here it now and play along with it and everything will be in realtime. the only exception will be vstis played via realtime midi. they will be delayed by the ulli setting(but the recorded midi will be in time with everything else).

the latency is the result of the processing time for the native world's sequencer and plugins.

Thanks !

So when the sequencer is midi playing hardware synth connected to scope analog input but also vsti and audio tracks, there is no latency between them ?

yes, that's all handled in the sequencer.

playback is not an issue. both the audio from the sequencer and the midi from the sequencer both suffer the same latency. you won't notice it unless you monitor the software instead of the Scope environment. when you record the external synth, it should be recorded in the proper time relationship to the other tracks in the sequencer. actually, the Scope synths are also external synths. :)
