Two cards together with diferent Scope versions?

Post by lagoausente »

A simple question, if have two 6 dsp cards, one with Scope 5.0 and the other with Scope 4.0 should they run together in the same computer with Scope 5.0? Or should need both updated?
Thanks very much.

as long as one card has the v5 key, both cards will work.

if there are optional plugins registered to the second card, they will only work if you get v5 keys for those devices. to do that, send your old v4 keyfile and your new v5 keyfile with a short letter requesting v5 keys for the other card's plugins to support and S|C will return keys for those plugins to you. only the first card will have the v5 software key, but you'll have v5 keys for the plugins on the second card then.

Thanks Gary. I Thought had to pay for having the keys on the other card. I both cards already have 5.0 can get the keys for the other card for free? Both need same keys for the same plugins to work together?
Thanks in advance.

you can get v5 keys for the optional plugins on the second card for free. only one card will have the v5 software key.

only one card needs keys for any device. the second card needs no keys at all.

Sorry I didn't explain if correctly.
Have
1-one 6dps card with 5.0 no extra plugins.
2- one pulsar 1 4 dsp with extra plugins.
3- Thinking of possible get another 6 dsp card with 4.0. (Not sure yet).

My main computer is a laptop with the virtuavia expresscard-pci adapter inside a rack. I'm no sure if both cards (1 and 2) will fit in the rack. If not fit and want to put the 6dsp card will SC give me the keys for the extra plugins registered on the pulsar 1? Or should need to pay a transfer? In that case I should install the pulsar one in a desktop pc, maybe with a third 6 dsp card there...

i don't know about a transfer. that's a dangerous and involved process. they may or may not want to offer this to you, especially with a pulsar1. a transfer involves erasing the rom onboard the card that the plugins are coming from with a special program. when erased you get a code to return and then new keys are made for both cards. very old cards may never recover from this.

you'll have to contact support and see what Ralf wants to do.
