IRQ and windows 7
IRQ and windows 7
Hey,
I am getting PCI overflow after going to windows 7 64 bit.
using SC 5.1
All cards are in the same slots as windows 7 32 bit
and when i open up the same projects i get PCI overflow
Is there are way of changing IRQ positions within windows 7?
I have physically moved cards around but with only 2 pci lots there is not a lot of options.
Thank you in advance.

Re: IRQ and windows 7
no, there's no way to change irqs in win7.
what is sharing an irq?
what motherboard?
what is the actual advantage to 64bit operation?

Re: IRQ and windows 7
I had the same pb, gary told me to disabled an USB IRQ that was shared with one of my cards and now it runs ok.

load big samples library in RAMgaryb wrote:what is the actual advantage to 64bit operation?

Re: IRQ and windows 7

most don't need that much memory even with big sample libs.
some do, though.
i wasn't asking what you needed 64bit for.

there's this perception that bigger is always better. bigger is better if you can't get the work done(reasonably) otherwise. there's not that much reason to leave multiple huge libs open when you can just turn a completed part into audio, unless it's a live instrument machine. your computer will thank you, 32 or 64bit... most people going to 64bit aren't even usig a small portion of the ram that they are buying. it's good for the ram and software manufacturers though.
Re: IRQ and windows 7
Miss's tells me that bigger is better...
Re: IRQ and windows 7
always!

well, as i said, bigger is better if you can't get the work done(reasonably) otherwise.
she should know....
even with the use of the word "ram", penis size and memory amount are not really comparing the same sorts of quantities imho.
congratulations(i guess) on being able to make her happy(i assume)....

Re: IRQ and windows 7
64 bit windows is needed for Halion 4.
unfortunately 32bit did not handle it.
I will have to look into how to disable other systems using the shared IRQ.
I will check the thread.
cheers

Re: IRQ and windows 7
if you tell me what is sharing, then i can tell you what to disable.
windows 7 64bit is NOT the same as 32bit. the same projects may or may not work. there are a lot of variables that affect how the software uses system resources. the worst thing is that it's a bad mismatch of 32 and 64bit software, expecially when vst plugins are involved.
yes, if you insist on having a bunch of big libraries all loaded at once, then you need the extra memory.
back in the old days of gigasampler, noone thought it a bad idea to have a seperate pc for the sampler software.
