A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

It just shows you when we really want to get the bad guys you use SpecOps and CIA combinations.

Seems there lots of disagreement on the Invisible Children.
But I give both sides of the coin a good look when it comes to such coordinated releasing of information.

Yup, there have been a lot of discussions about this. Here in Norway there are "experts" both praising and criticizing the video/organisation, and i see there is a lot of international debate as well. I guess it worked :D

Anyway, here is their response to some of the critisism:

I think the picture of surbanite white boys, posing with weapons pretending to be mean and tough like the real fighters they pose by, turns many people off.
They look like the type to cut and and the first piece of flying bark...
But their message and coordination combined with folks in the field who actually are in the fight sure gets the word out.
I always wondered why the UN and EU turned a blind eye from Rwandan Genocide, but thankfully private organizations in Europe, USA and other countries, along with Bush and Bono brought the AIDs awareness programs to the public, which then also exposed these murderous thugs, which really was a double edged sword as Uganda started recieving millions from DC in 2008 even during the evonomic downfall.

yes, i reacted to the picture as well. I see they have an explaination to that on my second link, which sounds "reasonable".

I guess Anonymous is on it allready, so we will know more about it in the coming days :D

But it's a good cause no doubt. With 11 million Dollars after expenses, it's what they do with extra cash that people will be watching.
Every now and then really good things can happen, let's hope this turns out like that.
But on the downside, us having a foothold in Uganda, Somalia, the Congo and Sudan is asking for trouble if they stay after the mission is completed.
But Jeez, talk about a great place to train.

i thought scam when i saw it.

it's a nice emotional image anyway. we all want children to have a chance to live a decent life. there's no doubt that there are guys like Kony running around. i wonder how they are funded well enough to keep themselves in expensive things like bullets and other hardware. if a "spider hole" can be found, i'm guessing that this guy could be found in a few days. he can't really be that far from civilization, if he's constantly raiding it. something doesn't add up.

i don't think i'm in favor of US soldiers in other countries in too many cases. there were stories about babies thrown out of incubators in the first Iraq/Kuwait conflicts which justified american involvment. these turned out to be false. the war wasn't false, however. similar stories were told to justify "advisers" in Vietnam. i wonder if any of this is related to Chinese activity in that part of Africa. the only way that i would want to send US soldiers is to directly protect Americans in the area or because the local government begged for it.

if that is real, then i hope that there is a swift conclusion. if they are going to use soldiers, it should be over immediately. if it takes more than a couple of weeks to eliminate this guy, then there's something else afoot.

also, how is this world court an authority? shouldn't the local government have reason enough to execute such a criminal?

further, who is funding this organization that is making the film and wristbands and lobbying?

Ask Leon Panetta......
He goes to the World body and UN for decisions and bypasses COngress, as he is instructed to do so.
Money can sure change a guys way of thinking.
Under Clinton he sought COngressional approval for Bosnia, etc.
Now we summon the world to test the waters.
Playing Policemen has it's disadvantages, but Congress is becoming irrelevant and domesticlly summoned at most.
Kind of like Facism started IIRC........

not sure if this is directly relevant, but there was a musical about the unrest and violence in Africa's military run countries.. "Fela!"... goes through the murders, rape, etc, of the military / local warlords.. I went to their sort of "beta" show right before doing full promotion.. was pretty hard core stuff. I didn't really understand why they made a musical out of it.. but anyway, it was a show. Not sure if it's touring. The show was pretty good, though it really focused on the "fela" guy, who sang, danced, and played the sax. I was thinking ,if that guy got sick the show would have to stop.

Fela 'Anikulapo' Kuti sr. is already 30 years in my music collection.
he was a topper. great drives and grooves, unpolished but vital as vital can be :-)
Check out the lp Black President.
read Wiki, as he also was political active on his own way (MalcolmX in his New York time, back in violent and anarchistic Nigeria a political rebel often trown in jale and tortured for his musical protests). married 27 women (most of them bandmembers, yes, polygamy), died in 1997.
His sun Femi runs the Kuti band now.

Ken, you could check this for an overview:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0KjkxTa ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK4zBRko ... ure=fvwrel
who said music is the most powerfull language of the world?
It is.

Hopefully they get Koni soon.
They didn't arrest him in the past, tho it was known where he was exactly.
If Obama got to get him from the deep wildernis where he's now it could help his re-election.
Osama Bin Laden, Koni, who else more. Assad?
So if I was Koni I would get me a life insurence ;-)

The real problem is that if/when someone DOES come along with a real issue that needs to be brought to the public's attention - such as Clooney in Sudan - then they are either arrested, or ignored outright.

There are ongoing problems around the world that still need attention - such Haiti, etc.

A really BACKWARDS world....
