Since I installed the SFP sometimes windows bombs and I get this message:

MSGSRV32 caused a segment not present fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:0000b093

At this point I have to turn off my computer otherwise hitting ctrl+alt+delete leads to a blue screen and finally a garbage display and if I go that far rebooting will give me the same message DOH!

Does anyone know what caused this and how to prevent it?

Are you on XP? XP by default stores system files backup in /windoze/DLLcache/...
Try comparing the file in /system32/ with the one found in /dllcache/ ?

I have no idea what the problem could be. But if the file were overwritten, it can be restored from /dllcache/ probably.

I'm not brave enough to use XP yet. I thought the file might be corrupt and maybe I should get a fresh copy. Could it be corrupt and still work most of the time when my system isn't crashing?

msgsrv32.exe is cause of instability also on my system (winME), but I can rescue pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and then terminate process. I don't know what is the function of that file, but I presume is something related to windows web integration
It may sound ridiculous, but, when receiving a telephone call and the computer is connected by adsl to the internet, it goes in deadlock and i see msgsrv32.exe blocked :???:
I was wondering to inhibite that file changing its extension, but I still don't know what exactly does

Thanks spirit. I should have looked there. I will try it although it will be a while before I know if it worked or not since this does not always happen. I do not have Groiler so it may have been caused by SFP. That's the only thing I installed recently and the problem started after I installed it.

The error looked the same so perhaps they have some element in common....
