What is the best controller for the xite ?
What is the best controller for the xite ?
I need a controller for controlling the xite mixers , EQ compressors etc.
Mainly use the STM 24 48 or 48 96.
Also something that also looks good for the studio for the clients that need to see the mixer they think is going to make there amazing sound.
Is there a 16 or 24 motorized fader controller?
Also how easy is it to assign all the perameters?
Is there ocs on the xite?
Anyways thanks in advance.

Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
i use my o2r yamaha mixer looks cool very professional mixer and sends midi so all the inputs and mixer channels from scope are mixed on the o2r mixer in real time so if i do autodata on the o2r for autofading and mixing it controls the scope mixers
Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
Thanks for the info so far.
I did think about a yamaha 02r.
Just wondering what the easiest way to go.
Don't know too much about osc and other easy connection and setup for scope.
Does the ephonix controllers connect easily or do I have to input all the cc's myself?
Basically what I'm looking for is a plug and play connection.
Thanks again

You could get 2 x Behringer BCF2000 and chain MIDI from one to another then into XITE for a few $hundred

Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
Scope controller support is very poor. That's because there isn't any. Forget Eucon, HUI, Mackie, OSC. In fact forget about controlling anything in Scope with a controller in any depth. You got 119 CC's and that's it. Twice that with spacef's mixers. The MixerLogic surface has about 200 buttons, faders, etc. You can only assign 119 CC's in the Scope mixers. Plugin's, etc, forget it. Transport??? M arkers??
I use a little Bitream 3x to handle the one spacef mixer I use in Scope but it ain't gonna impress any clients, they all left years ago. I've pretty much moved all my operations over to the host because I get full on automatic controller support. In Reaper I got customizable support for EVERYTHING including Scope devices. Also with XTC mode I can access all Scope synth and FX automation parameters from my controllers. So I'm controlling the synths and wotnot with a MCU and Novation Zero 2 with automatic mapping in the host. Load anything up and it's ready to go, all mappings come back on project opening. Plus Automap works with Scope devices.
The only way I would use Scope with fee paying clients is with a decent console or stick with the mouse. 119 CC's doesn't even make a dint in what's required. Plus there's the bugs.
If you need full on controller support it don't exist in Scope. So the trade off is to get it in the host or don't have it at all.

while i've been the biggest proponent of full controller support for Scope, i've got to say that the absolute need for it is absolute bullshit. there are very few times that one needs to touch more than one control and setting up a few faders or knobs via midi when you do need that only takes a moment and settings can be saved. most things are faster with a mouse, even compared to full controller integration. clients are impressed by the work, i've NEVER had a problem with clients or getting paid because of this.
i use an old Peavey pc1600 and it works great.
i would DEFINITELY approve of mackie control integration and osc would be even better, but that's part of the trade off between a system that costs a few thousand dollars and one that costs a hundred thousand dollars. sometimes you don't get as many lights and gizmos. i do mostly more traditional musical operations, so i know that what works well for me, won't work for everyone. i can't imagine staying in the native world just to use dedicated hardware controllers, though. in my business audio quality is more important than cool looking consoles.

Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
Yeah, I'd be weary of clients that are bedazzled by consoles.
But anyways, I'm currently running a Yamaha 01V96V2 controlling Samplitude, and a Korg Nanokontrol for handling Scope submixes, monitoring, and summing stems back into Samplitude through Scope.
About 90% of the time I hardly use the 01 for anything other than extra digital I/O and monitoring, so I'll probably be selling it soon.
At the extreme end, a couple of us approached Behringer at NAMM 2011 about deeper integration with Scope with their now newly released X32, but after checking it out at NAMM 2012 this past January, I'm now of the opinion that it's obviously totally overkill for Scope.
So, with open Scope platform coming, maybe someone can build beyond the old CC restrictions and build a dedicated console.
Until then I agree that maybe a couple BCF's would do the job.

with open scope the old CC handling is dead_
you MUST build your own one_
and it makes no sense to rebuild restictions_
good vibes
edit:
btw. its maybe a good idea to define your needs in time_

Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
Thanks all for the input!
This studio is a friend of mines which I convinced him to go with SC's xite.
He is really awed by the performance ,sound quality and the platforms flexibility.
He is going to build a studio from the ground up at a really great loft on and the room has Great potential.
At the core of the studio he will use his X-ite.
They are building and fabricating the studio furniture as well.
Anyway long story, but he and his partners think that having something in front of the desk that looks appealing to potential clients is a must.
I understand all of your points and agree that for the most a mouse click is the fastest and easiest way to work.( I don't have a mixer controller and when I hook up things like the cme vx or behringer brc etc. I use them for very little things like control of filters on synths and to rec into cubase some automation for things.
Never the less my friend still wants a mixer controller.
I have told him to go for used Digital mixer so he can at least take advantage of some I/o's. Etc.
So I will ask this
Does someone have any of the cc's mapped for the st4696 or st2448?
And on what controller?
Maybe if he can find the same one he can save a lot of time if someone is willing to share!
Thanks to all here on planetz for helping.
I love SC and thank god we have planetz with all it's knowledgeable members!!

Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
there have been a couple of mixers made that utilize mackie control.
DAS can help you. you can also contact tgstgs. Wolf also made one.

Re: What is the best controller for the xite ?
Hi
I'm using a Mackie Control Universal Pro with an additional fader extension. I'm using this just for leveling and panning, no advanced stuff like eq, compressors and such. And there are a few things to set up properly to get around the known scope limitations.
So my setup basicly is: The Mackie controller controls the channels in Cubase which will then resend the Midi to the Scope Mixers. There's also a detailed manual here on planetz how to do this, do a search.
There are a few mixers already mentionend here which supports mackie protocol but they have other limitations or are not optimized for Xite-1. So in the end, I stayed by the STMs.
Cheers
