Overflow and sonic core is causing me stress.

Cubase 6 32 bit
scope 5.1 64bit

I am getting PCI overflow all the time.

Do you think running cubase 32 bit would cause this issue.
Should i install cubase 64bit (I am using 32bit for older plugin use)?

Windows 7 32bit and scope seemed more stable.

any idea's would be appreciated.

It's properly your motherboard/chipset that's causing the problem.

Could you tell us the exact details of your motherboard?

I have an Asus crosshair 2.

It was all working good before window 64bit.

I am also getting this error when about 1/2 the DSP is loaded..

"capacity of your DSP has been reached.
no more stdm connections from power sampler to pulsar 2"

I am using the STM 1632 and only 1/2 the DSP.

If I use a bigger mixer the pci overflow error keeps popping up.

any suggestions would be grand

yea i would like to but 32 bit was crashing cubase all the time, as cubase needed more ram than windows 32 was willing to give.

64 bit works well with cubase...

Unfortunately the Creamware/SonicCore sound cards are very sensitive to your motherboards PCI-performance. It's a well know issue with the cards. Usually the recommendation is to go for intel chipsets. You are using one from nVidia: NVIDIA nForce 780a SLI .

This isn't necessarily bad, but the truth is that I don't know.

I'm now on a semi topnotch intel system (intel mobo and an i7 CPU) and I have not gained better pci performance than I used to have on my old amd/nVidia-system, actually it's worse, not much but definitely worse.

I tried to see if there were any testdata on the site, from other users using the same chipset as you, but no luck.

The usual rules are to make sure that your Soundcards are on their own irq's (fx soundcard sharing irq with gfx-card is a big nono) and that you disable all device's that you are not using (USB ports, onboard sound card etc.) in order to gain the best possible performance.

Maybe someone else in here have some information to share on your case?

what's in the project when you get these messages? can you post a screenshot?

win7 32 is crashing cubase?!!! that shouldn't happen, even with less ram. what vstis are you using?

if you are using win7 64bit, you should DEFINITELY use cubase 64bit.

cubase is 100% stable in 32 and 64bit here.

have you disabled the cpu power stepping in the bios? have you checked for cards sharing irqs?

cubase was tripping in w7 32bit due to halion 4.

I was using xtc and mixer mode nice and sweet in W7 32.

IRQ slots are clear, and i don't see a CPU power stepping options in bios it may be its an intel thing.

so my guess its the new sonic core 64bit drivers and my AMD board.

power stepping IS in your bios.

it's called "cool and quiet" or "e-stepping" or "power now!" or "optimized power management", depending on the processor and it's age. there may be other stupid names that i can't think of...

Intel INF-Update or Catalyst-Mobo-Drivers...

IMHO, this will cause a lot of problems if they are missing.. all works "normal" as you can see, because windows know the basic driver/unified driver for that sort of device... but when all things are under HEAVY load, it'll break together...
