scope v5.1 32 bit and 64 bit on win7 ultimate 64 bit

Post by zac001 »

i just built a new system around an intel core i7 930, 3.30 gHz cpu and win7 ultimate. i already have scope v5.1 (64 bit) installed but cubase v5.1 and adobe audition v3.0 are not as smooth as they were in my old xp system with v4.0 of scope. i am thinking of installing scope 32 bit on the above 64 bit os (under Program Files (x86) to see if there is an improvement. is this possible?, thanks for any replies.

have you disabled cpu power stepping in the bios?

you need the 64bit version if you have win7 64bit running.

may i ask you which motherboard do you have?
i have a gigabyte ud4 1366 and i don't have problems, beside a low-pci-bandwidth

here there are some suggestions directly from sonic-core:

For an audio PC (with little ASIO latency) you have to do some adjustments,
because Core i7, i5, i3 PCs can have ASIO clicks even with little CPU usage
and 25ms latency. At least you should deactivate the following settings
in your PC BIOS :

Intel EIST
Intel C State
C1E Support
Overspeed Protection
Hyperthreading
Execute Bit Support
Set Limit CPUID MaxVal to 3 (maybe not so important)
Intel Virtual Tech
Intel VT-d Tech

In addition the energy save settings of your operating system should be set to maximum.

thnx for the replies...

my mobo is an ASUS P6X58D Premium, 8 x gb ram, Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.
i have done all the sugestions from S|C re the bios but i couldn't find

1. overspeed protection
2. cpu power stepping

...the problem is that everything works (and sounds) great...sound forge 10, audition 4.0 etc no problem
(audition 3.0 didn't recognise the asio scope pci driver tho and always crashed)

BUT there is an annoying lag in cubase v5. i press the space bar and audio playback is delayed a fraction of a sec.

the same app in winxp (with S|C v4.5) was smooth as silk

doing my head in
i've done a few tweakes in vst audio devices like unchecking multi processing to no avail.

could you please perform a "masterverb test" for me??

see the other thread:
http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=30251

simply go to SFP, start from a blank project (remove every device/module/in/out etc) and load as many masterverb you can, until you get the "PCI overflow" error.

then, please try to load how many SC ambience reverb you can...

i'm trying to find out a MoBo better than mine in PCI specifications!

thx!
