wave source random glitches
wave source random glitches
cannot get rid of them.
unfortunately i use the onboard realtec which is just ok, but not that punchy and clear as scope wav sources. But scopes wave sources gives me always random small glitches.
16bit and 24bit wave source the same problem.
scope 14dsp +pulsar 6 dsp
windows 7 64bit.
gigabyte x48dq6
E6600
8gb ram
it happens nomatter IDE AHCI setting
it happens nomatter if i have removed the pulsar2 that appears to share IRQ.
scope pro alone does not share...(IRQ20 alone) but the wave random glitches happen as well.
the glitches occur every 20 40 or more seconds... enough to be considered as disturbing.
i have tried disabling CPU EIST.. etc..... without result.
i have tried different preload settings of the player...... different scope settings (preload min to max.... reducing waver modules to 1(default is 2)) ..NO RESULT
Might be a matter of 64bit OS and scope 5.1?? personally I remember similar glitches when i was in XP.
Might be a matter of codecs??

Re: wave source random glitches
Same problems here too.
I didn't experience these problems on Windows XP, when using wave or ASIO driver. Directsound driver sometimes had some glitches,
for example when playing some games

The Scope 5.1 64bit ASIO driver performance could also be a little bit better.

Re: wave source random glitches

i have disabled many many services but still i can not find the reason why these happen.
i will email soniccore and hope they will make a wave driver update(if it is a wave source problem
in youtube they happen a lot.
if you search within a song(video) it is the sound that will happen right after pressing the left mouse button on the time ruler of youtube videos. but unfortunatelly these glitches will appear randomly and during playback, not only when searching within the time ruler.
also these glitches are the same for video and audio playback in all of my pc players, and also happen during wav or mp3 playback.
i asked garyb in another post to test the windows sound devices, and he confirmed that he gets these glitches when he presses the test button(Garyb said that only in testing he gets them and not during listening music).
Well for me, since this happens(glitches of test button presses) in scopes wave devices and not in onboard mobo device, i assume that it is a scope wave source problem.
Re: wave source random glitches
Yes the windows sound test makes this random crackling sound. I'm pretty confident that this is a driver issue.
I already reported these issues to Sonic core during beta test, but no fixes were made to v5.1.2709-x64.

Re: wave source random glitches
i found a first solution.
for winamp that i use fat audio playback, i installed an asio output plugin(there are a few) and through asio4all i send to scopes wave source! no crackles!!!
NOW, one thing i still cannot do is to set windows media player audio device output(internet explorer plays through what audio device is set at wmp.) to use asio4all, so to be able to playback youtube with asio4all. Is there a way?

i am pretty sure happens to all scope users......and so it is a scope wave driver issue
Re: wave source random glitches
that would do it for me, I just use winamp on my music pc
for everything else I have a mac
if mac had audio controllable realtime modular environments I would be gone to apple long time ago, those bugs really dont add to workflow.
so i try that workaround now
edit: it worked
thanks for that tipp!
edit2: doesnt seem to work with wav files, does it in your case?
edit3: is there a chance to change to older versions of the wave driver, like 5.0 wave driver? will it work then? Or is this a win7 only related problem, I have not had the problem with windows xp 32 and scope 5.0/5.1

Re: wave source random glitches
it's a win7 64bit problem.
Re: wave source random glitches
No it is not.Its reported and confirmed by sc that this is a 5.1 bug.garyb wrote:it's a win7 64bit problem.
Re: wave source random glitches
yes!
that's right, it's a bug in win7 64bit systems.
who is S|C?

Re: wave source random glitches
I dont care anymore, complaining about bugs is just consuming too much time and life quality, I do very rarely watch youtube videos and actually stream them to my asio inputs for later editing, i mean very rarely, and listen to music I do with my itunes on a macbook pro, which is a very neat concept after all, also having some looks into logic and well, glitchy wave drivers really are not that big of a deal to me
would love to have it fixed though, I am pretty sure it has to do something with background tasks as the errors occur not neutrally random but more in cases of stress in the machine. Winamps audio buffer for example will never get empty when a glitch occurs so the problem does not even have something to do with buffers etc, buffers are fine, somewhere deeper in the audio stream process occurs, I think that is why the problem is probly difficult to nail down for sc
or are they working on it? I would surely put that on rank 1 to do list, asio is rockstable for me, and since I changes my pc psu I finally got rid of all the other nagging problems my pc had now occastionally and randomly over 3 years, I always thought it was because of the creamware cards being buggy and messing up the system but actually it was my darn psu
gut a bequiet 400W now, before nesteq 450W, the beqiet is even more quiet
I had randomly some problems with a card not being found anymore while working with scope, but that seems to be fixed after I cleaned every contact of my 3 pci cards, so rock stable everything now - i hope
I still did not get my mods to my analog gear and converters done, which is a shame, it got more complicated then my tech thought...but it will get done, my cv modded doeper is already done =)

Re: wave source random glitches
hello again...
just to make sure everyone with 64 bit win7 has this issue I need to ask:
Does anyone NOT have this problem with wave drivers in win7 64 bit??
If you dont have it, tell us what configuration you have!
cheers

Re: wave source random glitches
After months I didn't understood WHO is really creating the glitches problem on my system,
and I tried many solutions and suggestions found around.
On my system it's with ASIO that gives glitches, not WAVE driver.
Normally I use Cubase 4, Pulsar 1 and Pulsar 2 cards...
last week I tried different combinations and different DAW sequencers - Presonus Studio One and Cubase 6 Trial - using the same song and same plugins and leaving the song playing in cycle mode for long periods of time.
this is what I found (Win7 is 64bit - XP is 32bit):
Win7 + Pulsars + Cubase 4: glitches, pops, crackels (normally is just 1 to 3 during a song of 6 minutes)
Win7 + Pulsars + Cubase 6: the same as Cubase 4
Win7 + Pulsars + Reaper: the same as Cubase
Win7 + Pulsars + Kontakt 4 standalone: glitches, pops, crackels! (tried yesterday)
Win7 + Cubase4 + Internal Realtek Audiocard: absolutely NO glitches, pops, crackels!!!
WIn7 + Pulsars + Studio One: NO glitches, pops, crackels!!
XP + Pulsars + Cubase 4: NO glitches, pops, crackels!!
When I tried (more than one day) with Studio One and in XP in the meanwhile I kept running eMule, Skype, Thunderbird and surfing in Firefox!!
To confirm that's not a problem of sharing IRQ with LAN card or CPU stressing.
What can have Studio One different??
So I don't know yet what is causing, but sure my combi Win7 64bit, Pulsars and Cubase doesn't work!!
My system is:
intel Q6600 G0
DFI Infinity Dark P965-S
8 Gb Corsair 6400C4DHX Twinx
Sapphire Radeon HD3850
4 Hard Discs 7200 rpm + 1 Raptor HD 10000 rpm
SonicCore Pulsar/Scope 1 and 2 Audiocards
Tagan U22-580W power supply

I forgot to tell that YES, this happens to me too.Yes the windows sound test makes this random crackling sound. I'm pretty confident that this is a driver issue.
But usually I use mobo's soundcard to play music wuth winamp, VLC, and others or games.
In Wavelab I didn't notice crackling/glitches sounds using Scope Wave Drivers...
EDIT: I can confirm that using Scope Wave driver for playing youtube videos on firefox gives me totally clean audio. NO random glitches/crackling sounds.
just checking now a lot of songs.
Re: wave source random glitches
there's no problem with asio. cubase works fine here.

duh...
realtime audio can't wait for the wireless that is constantly polling and so uses it's irq every single time it comes up.
you'll either need a different adaptor or move it to a different slot or disable it when you do music...
