Xite windows Crash after period of non use.

Post by Neutron »

I have noticed this a couple of times now, I am not sure if it is from scope (XITE-1) or video drivers or something else.

if i go away from my machine overnight and leave it on, when i come back, it will work fine until it start turning knobs (so far on 2 different synths) with the mouse.

after a couple of movements the blue windows circle of waiting will appear(but music still playing), then "this program has stopped responding" and when i click it scope closes and the music stops.

it is mildly annoying because the reason i left it on is so i do not have to wait for my project to load, but now i do anyways.

I am using a cheap passive nvidia card, and dual 1920 x 1200 24" monitors.
windows 7 32 bit.

my guess is "reset board if idle" needs to be unchecked in the hardware's properties page.

That seems to have fixed that particular problem.

everything is ALMOST perfect, especially since that last fix you suggested, but i have not gotten a day of work in without restarting at least once.

I noticed on the XITE config thread you mentioned that i7 should have all power changing options turned off,

do the power settings you mention for "i" processors also include speed settings like turbo boost?

my DAW machine is an i7 875k(with gigabyte motherboard, and win7 32 bit) been having a few problems with XITE-1 and/or cubase (not helped at all by the mere existence of the virus TI plugin when it is used)
for instance sometimes when i do things like press "rewind" on cubase cc121 controller while it is playing then i will occasionally get the repeating sample loop of death

Sometimes i can fix it by changing the ULLI settings without even restarting cubase, sometimes have to restart the whole machine,

usually i have the ULLI set the the middle setting, but i would prefer to have it lower if i can get it more stable(actually i increased it thinking it might help, but it doesn't seem to make much difference)

yeah, what help is a virtual core when you're doing realtime work?
i'd turn turbo boost off.

here's a list from the letter sent out by S|C to new v5.1 users:
Intel EIST
Intel C State
C1E Support
Overspeed Protection
Hyperthreading
Execute Bit Support
Set Limit CPUID MaxVal to 3 (maybe not so important)
Intel Virtual Tech
Intel VT-d Tech

In addition the energy save settings of your operating system should be set to maximum,
never deactivate USB, PCI always on ...

changing ULLI would reload the system....i would expect no problems with 4ms @44.1k
