Beware of Yellowtools

Post by kensuguro »

Hey guys, I'm mixed up in a bad situation with Yellowtools and wanted give you guys a heads up.

I just bought Yellowtools Independence pro, which is a downloadable 70gb workstation style lib. Problem is, download seems to only work intermittently, or with specific connection types. (didn't work at home, but works at the office, 2gb down, 68 to go) They're also rumored to have been "dead" for the last year or so, and their tech support is nonexistent.

Anyway, long story short, they're service and products seem questionable, so my advice is to avoid them. Just get Kontakt instead.

they'll send you dvds eventually.
Yellowtools is a pretty good package, but as you say, suppport is non existant. once you get the dvds, you'll be allright. i had the same experience, the download links are useless.

ahh, so they will come eventually. When my project is frickin' OVER.. lol. I heard it takes months. Apparently the yellowtool guys need a few months to train before they swim over the atlantic.

Yellowtools - great library, semi-functional program GUI (works OK here), but marginally stable and/or reliable.

And yes, it appears that they've taken on 'the giant' with Kontakt, so perhaps business is not good enough to sustain a support team.
It's a catch-22 of the industry. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

IF similar quality libraries are available, (or can be reliably translated), then probably Kontakt is a better way to go.

I DO wish YT success, as I LIKE seeing some competition out there, so as to avoid too much monopolization.

Better to just buy the DVD and not rely on intra-national networks.

it took about 1 week as i remember.

my keyboard player is using YT for live work(with Scope, of course!) and it has been 100% dependable. it isn't a friendly gui, but it works. maybe you'll get the library "in time"...

ya, for some reason their download works at my office, so I'm on file 7 out of 16. Maybe I'll keep at it for a few days and I might get them all downloaded.
