Electronic Daisy Festival

Post by dawman »

This thing is a blast.
The town is full of Electro geeks and the jams were excellent.
Sometimes I really need to see why simplicity humbles me.
What I especially like is the way this one group was droning on a note,
but the note was constantly changing timbre and sound, morphing through
different FX.
The FOH station was a reminder of why 480L's, DBX Quad Gates, and DBX
166's are still around.
The town is on fire again.......

Well my theory on droning music and why some of us like it so much, we do it on spheric lounge constantly...
Our mind needs only few milliseconds to identify a sounds character, a piano or whatever, now when you are confronted with a 140 bpm every 1/32 or faster beat something keeps you busy and I like to say this kind of music like rock pop or whatever is more a listening to rhythm then the single instruments. At least for me.
In electronic, ambient like music your listening changes, you calm down, you hear more details, listen to changes in timbres, you can stay on a sound for the whole time and follow it, easy listening but not less boring IMHO.

It's good to have choice and variety. Great picture!

@ Chriss

Nice theory there: calms you down - I love ambient drone stuff myself. I listen to it a lot while working, it enables me to focus better.

Reminds me that I need to get back into my scope system and do some drone stuff again :)

I love the motion of the music.
245,000 people came in over a 3 day period, and OMG the women all dress in neon Bikins and with lace like Stevie Nicks, and furry neon boots, etc.
Needless to say my balls were smoking for 2 days as even the the Playboy Bunnies started wearing those outfits, as well as many Palms waittail cocktresses.

The time is now.
I missed these 2 but they made the cover of the local Bus Stop paper...

MaryJ pasties & Botox...a dangerous combination! At least there's no silicon involved, or her DSP usage would result in too many SAT connection overloads.

Morphing sounds and drones are something I should ever like to learn too. Probably too far for my skills; especially these days.

Vasco Rossi's tour date in my town, fixed for the end of June, has been cancelled cause of a supporting wall collapsed along the drive leading up to the stadium parking place. (The wall collapsed almost two months ago; the stadium complex is almost new... built around... 10 years ago. Since some years this town haven't got a soccer team in championship any longer, so the stadium is unused...)

Looks like many people can find the way to enjoy the nights the same here, though.

Who's the girl holding the gun Jimmy?

P.S.

Two days ago Vasco Rossi stated this is his last tour. He resign his rockstar role, he said (sorry I'm actually not sure how this can be said correctly in English... just hope you understand).
His second date in Sicily, September in Catania, has been cancelled as well, cause of the date being too close to the soccer championship beginning; the stadium has been denied. Tickets sold in advance (for both the Messina and Catania events) has been refound
