SFP 3.1 Works on Macintosh!!!!
I was having horrible problems.
Screen looked awful. Garbage. Devices too.
I was running OS 9.0.4 because it had been so stable for all of my audio.
SFP 3.1 likes OS 9.2.2.
I upgraded my OS this morning and now....
IT ALL WORKS!!!!
I am so happy!
Any Mac users...make sure you have the latest OS.
Cheers

it seems to work fine on 9.1 indeed. that means: i was able to install the software in a seperate file (had to type out the keys manually because my machine doesn't recognize .skf files (what app. is used for this?)). cubase started up without a problem from the first try, did some recording... all is fine.
then i copied my non CW synths folder, selected 303 (which loaded fine), removed it (to try dubsub2) and then had a crash.
didn't go any further (i do need some sleep NOW).
oh, and something odd: i initially tried to install SFP onto my DAW partition, but i was still in my general apps partition. normally this shouldn't be a problem. in a normal installation dialog box, you can choose which disk to install on, but now this wasn't the case, and FSP started to install itself on GEN partition. i tried to abort installation, but i was too late. now the background project won't start (can't find alloc.dll). well, shouldn't be too hard to get it right again, but that'll be for the new day.
it looks cool, it's easy, i like the new 1632 mixer, the arpeg01 might be some fun,... yeah, my first impression is rather possitive.
i only hope the copying/installing of free and nonCW devices won't make me wanna pull out every single hair on my head.
oh no!!! i haven't tried to open an old project yet! i think i'm in for some real surprises!

I found SFP on 9.2.2 works better (faster graphics), Andy. About the .skf file: the SFP installer asks you at the begining of installation about the keys and a button appears to browse the file manually - that way the installer finds all keys itself. On 2002-05-09 17:23, borg wrote:

good night. after you wake up: some old devices won't load, I had a crash after trying to launch Dope synth/effect but dubsub appeared properly. look also my thread in Tips & tricks subforum about old devices.then i copied my non CW synths folder, selected 303 (which loaded fine), removed it (to try dubsub2) and then had a crash.didn't go any further (i do need some sleep NOW).
About old projects: if you didn't erase the 3.01 folder, they will load properly. Remember that all the ins/outs, devs/mdls etc. load from 3.01 folder. If you want to load them from SFP folder you have to do some tricks (easy to follow) - find more in the readme file found in sfp install folder.

1. I had no probler neither in 9.1 nor 9.2.2 with the skf file.
2. I use OMS 2.3.7 + SFP. They coexist conflictfree
3..rtf stands for Rich Text Format - that's the end of my knowledge in this topic but you can open the file with Microsoft Word and as well as with a default notepad (don't remember the exact name for it) in OS X.

Well..... it does'nt work for me.
It installed fine, keyfile and everything.
BUT... when i launched the app, it gave me error -39.
I found that the application file and all the other files in the same folder were 0 yes zero kB.
Hmmmm.
I do run 9.04, if it works don't fix it.
However i will try and upgrade and see what happens.

jupiter8,
what you could try, if you have a boring afternoon, is manually copying all the files from the installer package(dir) to the corresponding directories of your failed SFP installation ?
Or just check the integrity of all the files in the original Installer... and see if they are all "0 bytes" too - could be a corrupt ".sit" file ?

I installed it again for the 4th time and suddenly it all worked!
I have some problems with dialoge boxes being garbled.
I can't see the whole window.
I'll guess i'll update to 9.2.2 soon but 9.0.4 has been so good to me!
I know have the Lightwave which i did'nt before http://www.wangy.force9.co.uk/wahoo.wav

Hi Jupiter,
As far as I remember you use Cubase 4.1 so if you don't want to have problems, run it on MacOS 9.1. The combination of SFP, Cub 4.1r2 and MacOS 9.1 seems to be the solution. Under 9.2.2 SFP goes smoother (graphics) but the version of cubase doesn't behave stabile (active sensing crashes)

damn, i've trying all day to do some serious installing, but the updates for 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 i got from apple web site don't work here.
whenever i try to install the updates on top of 9.1 i get messages that it's not possible... could it be because the cd with 9.1 on it that came with my (second hand) G3 is not an official one, but a copy (of the original)?
do you guys think 9.2.2 is still available officialy with OS X around?
is it worth the wait for 9.2.2 or wil 9.1 do the job as well?
oh, boy... i've been changing so many things the last few hours, i better start all over again. funfunfun!!!

Andy,
Before trying to do the 9.2.2 upgrade you will have to upgrade to 9.2.1.
If you are having problems with 9.2.1 make sure you are restarting your Mac with just the OS 9.1 base extension set enabled. Turn off any security software you might have...and make sure that your energy control panel is set so that it won't put your Mac to sleep during installation.
It should work. I installed the updates to two macs over the past two days....went smoothly.
hope this helps
