The Emulator (for Live)

Post by spacef »

I went to the mix and move and had a blast at the emulator's demo
It's a tactile screen midi controller... the version on the video is only on special demand (it is slightly smaller like 46')
the price is high too, but for a live show it is a must....
More intreaction with the audience who can see the screen from below...
the soft is made for djs, but what is interesting is the screen, as it is a projection from a retroprojector (like in minority report ;-)

The original Reactable has it's code base for touch detection, OSC and MIDI conversion included, available for free as "reacTIVision":

so all one would need would be the translucent screen system... and a lot of programming time :-)
i've seen a screen sheet (like a transprent paper sheet, usb, that you can roll n go) but they were still very small (and probably prototypes).
new science fictious livesets for synths and computer based live shows seem to be for not a lot of years from now, at last..... it's cool to see bands with macbooks on stage, but it is not very interesting to watch once you saw a couple of them..
