There has been some destructive behaviour of this kind lately. in example, people who are small-scale politically active have had their pages hijacked (basically someone make an account in the exact same name and maybe even "steals" you profile picture, then go around and make "destructive" posts that contradicts your view).

If you have a common name, this might be a coincidence, but if your name is not so common then you might have an issue.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

or people making you join groups you don't care about, or facebook "updates" obliging to keep an eye on your "privacy" settings...
but yes , you can register whatever you want on facebook as long as you have a valid email adress...

Everyone I know says to use it for self promotion and let people know where you are playing, etc.
I have enough bored freaks stalking the singers and members as it is. Why add more...?

At least facebook provides a pic, this place only gives a nickname!

Seriously though the abuse on facebook is indeed increasing. One of the most common things I see is people mass-tagging a single photo (of someone that might be considered unattractive perhaps) with the names of everyone they dislike or want to grief. Fake accounts may eventually get policed but the photo tagging really messes with accounts as it causes those photos to show up automatically under your photos with the new facebook code (and the more popular they can make the image the more chance it has of showing up directly at the top of your profile.)

That looks like spam tbh. The griefing behaviour I described is different as it's intended to assault specific individuals.

My guess is your name (or 2 similar names put together) were harvested somewhere and used to create a fake facebook account (along with a few hundred others most likely.) That's also a popular thing recently as it can be used for all kinds of things.

For example the recent spate of propagating .tk links that have malware payloads or prompt you to 'confirm your facebook login' so they can steal your login & password (hint, avoid ANY link with .tk in it.) Even the Air Force & other recruiters want in on the action: Air Force Wants Hundreds of Fake Online Identities

I understand, it's not funny to me either. Also fwiw I'm not just responding to you, sharing information as it relates to the overall discussion as well (ie, the black hat issues.)

I'm not sure there's much you can do beyond reporting the facebook account. If you had created one first you might be able to use various methods to recover it, but since it's been created by someone else with a name like yours, you'll simply have to create a new account I believe.

The upshot is that most 'black' techniques for gaming search engines and social networking sites for spam tend to fade rather quickly as the sites attempt to self correct, or at least if they intend to remain relevant. So 'black hat' created accounts will eventually not show up, while the more you use whatever 'legitimate' or real account you create the more visible that account will (hopefully) become. Myspace had a very hard time preventing these sort of tricks and quickly turned into a messy place, hopefully facebook can spend their money more wisely than R. Murdoch & co.

People here are experiencing troubles with MSN and Hotmail.it accounts too, at now.
There are friends asking me for help about forced accounts. I had a look in one of these and it appeared really forced (sent box plenty of spam messages) and heavily spammed itself...
I supposed it might be due to weak password choice and proposed to set a new, complex, one.
We'll see in the next days...
