who knows?

the first thing to try is to reinstall the program directly over the top of the other install. this should replace any corrupt system files, and allow you to uninstall if you need to. if it's really all messed up, you may have to unistall manually. trash the Scope folder, open regedit and search for soniccore and delete Scope entries. be VERY careful to NOT remove anything that is NOT Scope.

is the card properly seated? for some reason the program won't start. do you have an earlier version installed with v5 also installed? if so, the computer is trying to start the earlier version which won't run because the older driver is uninstalled. go to msconfig\startup and uncheck the sfp entry. then rename the older Scope folder so that old projects can't find it when they are loaded(so that they will load from v5).

i hope this helps.

I use v4.5 downloaded from sonic core web page. I uninstalled manually for thousands of times, even formated my hard drive. Still scope functions not correctly, what makes me wonder. Currently it runs, but cubase do not define any asio scope driver anymore and still not proper unistallation possible.

moreover in the routing window most of the drag and drop menu is missing, only hardware and software IOs.
I am quiet experience user, but I have no more ideas what else can be fixed. I am fighting over this problem for 2 months already :((

I also tried installing v4.0 from the cd I got with my card, but the problem is the same.
there is one thing i made wrong at the 1st place. I have mix'n'mastering pack, but I mixed up with synth pack and installed it that way, may be that caused the problem and now scope is not working correctly due to that fact?! J

no, that would just leave you with plugins you can't use.

i have done more than 100 4.5 installs. the installer and software work, for sure.
have you verified that the driver is installed and that the card is fully seated? v4 doesn't install the driver automatically....

There wont be any installation if driver not installed. Everytime I delted scope manually, both soft and driver, I were to install the driver, then reboot and only then installation proceeded.

Probably, I should get a new hard drive and try to install again.

OK. I got Scope removed from regedit. Installing v4.5, checked for uninstallation - finally it works.
Cubase now defines asio scope.
Next thing I do is checking if Scope woks in XTC mode.
And here comes another problem. I get this message when loading Cubase:
Hardware 26 detected, please update your software. Scope driver failed.

i know you know what you're doing, but mistakes happen. double check that xtc mode is checked in the settings window and that Scope is closed and retry it. if it still doesn't work, restart the computer. if it still doesn't work, try installing over the top one more time. if it still doesn't work, you can try cleaning the card's contacts with pure alcohol(99% or better ONLY), or a good commercial contact cleaner. put the cleaner on a swab and clean the contacts only. any fingerprints, even just a little will make the card erratic. you can also CAREFULLY remove the 4 nylon screws holding the i/o card on and pry the card up without torquing it and then reseat it. do this a couple of times and reinstall the card and restart the system and check again.

if it still doesn't work correctly, the card and your computer are both suspect. i'd start with checking the voltages on the power supply UNDER LOAD. there is software for monitoring this. even better, just try another power supply if there is one available that won't cost money. from there, it gets uglier. i'd start with a freshly partitioned hd before going any further my self.

i'm sure that it'll be working without going though any really troubling changes, but that's pretty much the steps to take. let me know...

by the way, if you're using v4 the things to search regedit for are Creamware, Scope, and the card you have(Scope, Pulsar, Power Sampler or Luna).

Hey, Gary, I got one more simple Q. While installing scope xtc plugs I got confused, cos installation required to give 2 destinations. The 1st one goes to host VSTplugs and I am not sure about the 2nd destination. Same folder? Thank you.

well, it doesn't have to go anywhere, really. it's just provided as a convienience for those with more than one sequencer. since most sequencers will use ANY vstPlugins folder on the machine, it's not really critical. i usually would disable it.

what did you have to do to finally fix things?

I deleted everything related to scope and cubase in regedit. That gave me proper scope installation and uninstallation. As a result, cubase managed to define scope asio and xtc mode as well. I still have some problems with cubase 5 when updating plugins, cos I am using cracked version. But cubase finds all new plugins automatically, so there is no need to press update button :) I guess that is it.

yep, if you have a crack, you can't really expect things to work correctly. :)
