Tea
Re: Tea
I dont get it with this US system of 'mid-term' - I thought a 'term' was the gap between 2 elections, and if you have another election thats another term ! Well now you got one party in one house and another in the other, with a leader presiding over some deadlock, similar to what we now have in Australia where the prime minister had to break the deadlock by using some from the Green party.
So now what do we call the American/Australian Alliance ? Green Tea ?

Re: Tea
deadlock is great!
true deadlock(gridlock) is one of the commoner's defenses against powerful special interests. the US Constitution is designed to make it very hard for the powerful to run roughshod over the weak via the Federal government. unfortunately, that mechanism was overcome by the two party system and the funding of both sides by the powerful.
the WORST thing that can happen is when the government starts "getting things done"...

Re: Tea
That are the exact words anyone from outside the USA need to know.
We could actually bring our military assets home if we had the people vote on these undeclared Wars too.
Americans don't want to be the Policemen of the World. It was necessary at one time and the humane thing to do.
Over here as kids we usually end up being best friends with the same kids we beat up or get beaten up by, sounds wierd I know.
But this extended stay in Europe and Korea are no longer needed, and these deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan are just the wealth of the world using our sons and daughters in some sick Chess game.
Hopefully these elites have taken this message from the people and do exactly as GaryB says...........Nothing.

Re: Tea
Summary. What do you have reached by your current elections? At least a political deadlock. What can you learn from it? Now you can see, that no personality rules the states. Only the rich are ruling everything. If you are content with that go with it, if you are not protest. If you like to be judged, don`t do anything, if you think you can do better do it, but don`t underestimate the ones you have to handle. At least only money will make the decisions, your law and your freedom. Network 23 is something like nice regarding to the current situation.

Re: Tea
we don't need a personality to rule us, because we are supposedly made up of SOVERIEGN citizens. when a personality starts running things, all hell breaks loose. right now the personality IS cash, so you've got that part correct...

Btw. I did make some fun of that in the 80s..."Hey what wil the scene look like in 2020 with Bruce Willis and Arnold in wheelchairs fighting the bad & ugly with laser pumpguns.

Now the damned fun has been overruled by reality...Did somebody see http://www.red-themovie.com/ ?

Yeah, the old broad was scarrier than the destruction crew.
My son has me seeing Saw 3D and Resisent Evil and all of the Real 3D moveis.
They are fun to watch.....no plots, no good acting, just good old audio and visual effects.

Re: Tea
And if the audio is all in 5.1 surround - and they mixed it correctly in post production - then you could just turn down the center channel to get rid of all the lame dialog and just listen to the fx and soundtrackXITE-1/4LIVE wrote:Yeah, the old broad was scarrier than the destruction crew.

I do this with football games all the time.

Re: Tea
the problem was that there was PLENTY of "governmental oversight" in all of those examples. if the government isn't working to protect it's peoples because it considers itself the "authority" instead of the "public servant", then legislation will only make a bigger mess.
Re: Tea
Taxpayers have never had control over how thier money is spent so why should we expect any different. We will know next time we taste some Twinings Tea thats been made in Poland if it tastes better to the tune of 10 million Euros.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
