Scope Compatibility Chart - Please Review

Post by dante »

This is my attempt so far at some sort of unofficial compatibility guide, some of it guesswork on my behalf so all input welcome.

http://www.hitfoundry.com/compat.htm

Im also trying to explain the upgrade scenario debated here : http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29484 given that consensus is divided.

All input welcome on either the chart or the explanation.

The chart looks awesome.
I see no issues.

Thanks for your commitment to clear information!

If i am not mistaken, you need to run the Scope application in win xp comp mode as well when using win 7 32 bit. Its been a while since i tried this setup, maybe others (Winger?) can confirm...

Also, i am not sure why scope 5.1 will not run in Vista 64 bit?

Ok thanks Next to Nothing. I have made adjustments :

Winger said here

http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php ... ta#p245581

he hadn't tested 64 bit ?

So Ive just put 'UNTESTED' against the vista combinations until someone can give me a test result one way or th'other.

Thanks - Ive changed that to 'Untested' - from memory I think you are right, unless some other member hacked it.

Looks good. Thanks. It is a good service for people like me, who are not everyday on the Z anymore. I would suggest, that you remove the 4.0/4.5/xite line from the list to make it less cluttered. It could be fixed with a line of text below :-)

B.t.w. why do you write, that SC does not make PCI boards anymore. They still have the boards on the site with prices and everything.

Immanuel good suggestion re taking out the xite lines for scope ver 4 and 4.5.

The reason I say S|C no longer manufacture the PCI cards is from discussion elsewhere, I will find the links tomorrow as I am on iPhone currently. We know they are advertised in the shop but suspect sale would not go through.

This is not official S|C word though

because though they are not officially discontinued, XITE production has caused PCI production to cease. there aren't any cards that i know of available right now(though S|C could change that without notifying me), nor are there plans that i am aware of to make more(not that they have any obligation to inform me).

it IS possible that S|C will make more PCI cards. it might be more likely that another product would appear.

Updated accordingly. Hope this now clarifies the unofficial position :)
