I've been under the impression that Scope is an extremely rare and pioneering application of dsp coding, weaving together the complex processing of multiple dsp chips. A feat which in it's lifetime has never been beaten?
Can anyone clarify or confirm this assertation?

and yes, to all Sonic-Core employees, please stop wasting time reading this topic, remedy the bugs and keep us at the bleeding edge of develpoment!

Shame to see the debate that's been going on ever since Creamware was introduced is still going on. The company is too small to even try to compete with their rivals and the marketing strategy they followed over the years is not the best to say the least. Sonic Core are missing out on so many potential users it just hurts to see.
As a professional dance music producer and graphic designer i can confirm that Mac is more or less the standard worldwide. I had to leave my old beloved platform years ago cause it simply didn't fit in my new setup which incl. going Mac. I'm still checking here once in a while in the hope OS X drivers are ready and stable for me to re-enter these boards with a brandnew spanking Xite-1, however... since i've just ordered a Mac octocore i'm not sure if i would need a xite to run along that. Atleast not for the extra power, it would purely be for the great plugins.

Scope is always a good buy(assuming the proper drivers). the computers is for months, a couple years at best, but Scope is for 20years or more. the REAL GOOD plugins will always choke the cpu, eventually. you will always want more power, regardless of how much you have, that's what fuels the industry. it seems that the more powerful the machine, the less efficient new programs are...

I CAN CONFIRM THAT.
i was there at NAMM a few years ago, when there was a quiet buzz around the place about the XITE. EVERYONE who was anyone in the synth/computer recording/or dsp industry that was in attendance came by the booth for a sneak look or a long talk with Holger and Jeurgen. that included Analog Devices and many from Digidesign.

i would NOT be surprised to find employees of Digidesign in places like this, talking smack. they SURE were interested at NAMM.

yes, Scope is bleeding edge in the dsp world. yes, Jeurgen was told that such a big assemblage of dsp chips in XITE would NOT work at all, and YES, Analog Devices was impressed.

Agree completely. I think of Scope more as a fine musical instrument than a production tool, the Stradivarius of synthesizers. It will never really become obsolete as long as you can find a computer to run it because the hardware+software package transcends the normal Moore's law cycle of bigger software, faster computer, by being nearly perfect at what it does already. I bitch because I expected 64 bit drivers months ago, and made plans accordingly. But, really, if I knew 64 bit support would never come, while I most likely would dump Xite-1 (because it is new and still buggy), I'd keep the cards and build a 32 bit setup just for them, not as my production computer but as my most treasured musical instrument.

I think scope is perfect for all stages of a production. From composing, sound design, mixing....all that nowadays producers must do can be done on scope. Here the production stops pre-mastering, but may be people use it for serious/technical mastering.
I use Scope PCI mainly for mixing, and I know that the mixers i use are designed for producers of modern electronic music, extensions of the vstis and vst channels, while allowing mixing in the most classical terms.
I cannot do what i do in scope in any other environment available to me. It does not do it all, but what it does, it does it well and in some aspects are still unmatched in terms of sound quality, flexibility, modulation, routing...
It is the instruments that i don't use anymore at all, but it is more a problem of available ressources than a decision. I really miss some scope instruments that have no equivalent in the VST world (and vice versa) but don't have the time to do the load and bounce anymore.
And that's what is great with scope, people can use it the way they want, it's completely modular.

I ran my last PC for 6 years. Simply because of Scope being in it.

and I have forgot how to work with Scope.

End of 2009 I've asked SC support how long I have to wait for 64Bit drivers, and I got an estimated announcement of 1 or 2 month. They told me, that beta software still exists an they think of a release in feb 2010. All my new computers goes to 64bit OS, because I do benefit very much of higher availabe ram. The old 32bit computers are gone defect.
It wasn't a big problem for me to wait a month or two for 64bit scope software.
But six months later, still no 64bit scope and I've learned to work without them. I bought some other great stuff for my needs. :)

im exactly in the same situation like you... i didnt use scope since 6 months or longer because i thought all the time they would release soon.
i bought a new computer and installed a 64bit OS. in the past year i checked 1-2 times a week for the update.
the problem was in my opinion if i went back to 32bit, a lot of stuff had not worked i had to setup everything for a 32bit system.
thats why i just started to wait...
i didnt want to setup everything again after "a month".
i remember at the december 2009 or jan10 they said they would release a beta shortly...
at this moment i really had not clue how long a "shortly or soon" can be.

I don't know if Soniccore is still alive. There is no change on their website for a longer time.

Dunno but to me, the cost of my Scope cards could buy 2 or 3 computers. The computer is nothing more than a host so why would you render it inoperable as a host for any length of time at all ?

It's sorta like buying Scope, then adding a 1 gig gaming card, internet, CAD, 3D Soundblaster, dual boots, joysticks sharewarez sequencers xxx movies and anything else that uses IRQ's, can be virus infected or totally unrelated to DSP applications & expecting it to still work efficiently as a dedicated DAW.
