Hi!
I try to record both the U know and Minimax internally using Scope v5, and a couple of pulsars + Luna board, but I'm getting so much noise that I don't know what.
Any hints or tips on how I should route!? Getting a lot of PC noise (graphic noise and stuff) as well!
Using Cubase 5 under Windows 7 32bit, no outboard gear connected at the moment.
Using the Luna 8ch breakoutbox for output to my speakers
Regards
Noise when recording!?
Re: Noise when recording!?
maybe a short clip of the noise or a better description would help. many things can cause or be called noise. there's no pat answer to give that covers all...
Re: Noise when recording!?
is the noise really on the record or do you hear it only on the monitors ?
cheers, Tom

It's really on the record, did a mixdown and put on my ipod, and noise is there.astroman wrote:is the noise really on the record or do you hear it only on the monitors ?

I'll try to get a noisesample up later today.garyb wrote:maybe a short clip of the noise or a better description would help. many things can cause or be called noise. there's no pat answer to give that covers all...

Here's a link to the noisesample.
Here you can hear me switch windows focus, and dragging the explorer window then switching back to Cubase!
However, I really don't have this particular issue (it's not recording the windowdragging sound that you can hear) at the moment.
But the background static still come and go!
Did absolutely nothing except for restarting the computer to get rid of the recording of gfx/windowdragging!
Any hints would be much appreciated!
No external gear was connected while doing this, just using the Luna 8channel Z-Link breakout box as output, no other physical in/outs connected. Everything else routed internally via Scope v5.

Re: Noise when recording!?
you mean you get that sound on an Asio track with nothing routed to that track ?
or is it the sum of the mixer that has active analog inputs somewhere, just nothing plugged in externally ?
it really sounds like leaking stuff to analog...
cheers, Tom

Re: Noise when recording!?
the higher pitched noise comes when you move your mouse.
I have encountered this a couple of times, but it's a long time ago so i dont remember the details exactly. It is nothing dramatic, just a question of re-seating your card(s), or maybe switching PCI port. Try re-seating your gxf card as well.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
Re: Noise when recording!?
what is sharing an irq with the card? chances are moving the card to a different slot will help.
