When Sonic Core sent me my new Key-files,
they also sent me links to download SCOPE 4.5,
(as upgrade to my 4.0), but they make no mention of cost.
Does this download of 4.5 allow me to upgrade for free,
or does 4.5 somehow imply upgrading to 5, which
is 200 euros?

the 4.5 software can be used with the 4.0 keys. as 4.5 was mainly a change in the package itself. only the devices in the 4.0 package will work, if you haven't bought the upgrade. if you have 4.5 keys, yes 5.0 is free, otherwise, yes, you would have to pay for it.
