New AUX Mixers
New AUX Mixers
These are relatively light on DSP.
The 24 Stereo channel mixer takes about 40%
of an XITE-1 DSP.
The 12S3 that is a good ASIO Mixer " pre " STEM 247
uses 25% of a DSP.
The MB7 uses 20-25% too.
There are 3 more mixers that are all part of the Modular package.
I will check them out tomorrow.

Re: New AUX Mixers
Hello;
Can you tell me where it is possible to see these new offerings: 'Modular package' at Spacef ?
Thanks.

Re: New AUX Mixers
It's not released yet but it is for soon....
you can read the "work in progress" articles about various concepts and examples (sorry for bad pictures and bad writing, it 's done quickly).
http://www.spacef-devices.com/index.php ... &Itemid=11
For the moment it talks only about concepts and the project window.
i will probably add channel descriptions after next week end.

Looks great Mehdi!
any possibilities of extended sidechaining options within the mod mixers? It would be cool to have the option to have any signal in any of the mixers act as a sidechain input to be routed to any of the other channels..
There's a workaround with the fp106 mixers by adding the octamix for the channels to be sidechained, but routing wise and for convenience it would be awesome to have this function implemented in your mixers (and also if two fp106 mixers are used)

Re: New AUX Mixers
Hi,
Sidechain is used in Channel modules or in Master Bus by using the sidechain drop-down menu that is found on some dynamic devices (Vinco for example, and may be the standard compressors/limiters have this too, i don't exactly remember right now): it allows to use any source of the project. This is the "regular" Scope method.
A sidechain signal can also be outputted from the "Rec channel" of a module, as all Rec channels have feedback and allow to overcome possible messages of "recursion without delay".
About using 2 FPs: there is no big technical limitation once it is formatted to be integrated in the modular system.

Re: New AUX Mixers
Yea, spacef, all stock dynamics fx (comp, gate, expander,...) have SC inputs (for as long as I can remember)! The new "vintage" series have separate versions with SC in the title, and guess what, they too have SideChain inputs.

Re: New AUX Mixers
It's wise to have the SC options.
With SpaceF mixers I can do my drums and Analog synths first
when mastering into VDAT.
I have the best results when using the Rec channel routed to
the DAS Gate.
It's the most precise Gate we have IMHO.
Instead of weakening the STW Reverb signal by decreasing the
Room Size or Decay, I can keep an extremely large Decay Time,
which keeps the reverbs signal really strong and warm,
and then use the Gate as my Room Size/Decay parameter.
Perfect on drums and vocals.
Allows me to use unrealistic amounts of effects while Ducking
their tails which can muddy up a mix really fast.

I knew the vinco sc doesnt work in scope 5 (as an insert fx) and mailed sc about this, who promised to fix it in a next release. Also the sonic timeworks didnt work because im missing some dsp files it seems.
I think i confused the stock comp with a stw or something, so i didnt even care to check out the stock fx

thanks guys

Re: New AUX Mixers
These mixers are going work just fine for what
I will doing when solo gigs are needed.
Below is an example of having all of my synths available,
12 x Kontakt instruments, and pre recorded background
vocals and drums.
VRC-S and VDAT can be accessed in realtime and instead
of using footswitches for song selection, I will stream
audio 45 minutes at a time and stick to a certain format,
which gets boring after a while but the extra steady
money eases the pain. There are 3 different Mergers
from the Modular Mixer Bundle that allow 32, 40 and 48 channel
mixdowns that can access all 6 AUX effects.
I have lots of work to do but the tools are now available.
Using the XITE-1 and assigning the mixers to DSP 7/8/9 & 10
then clearing the assignments allows the use of massive
plug counts in the channels.
I prefer using Modular effects shells to allow the maximum
internal plug counts.
I have decided since Mehdi has done such a fine job,
I have changed his name to Shreddy, aka. SpaceF.....

Re: New AUX Mixers
I have a friend here with an endless supply of cash and vintage mics & mic pre's and recently he acquirred a Manley Slam w/ AES/EBU & SP/DIF.
I complained about how big his remixes sound and he told me what he was using.
They are impressive.
I whined after hearing a mix over his Urei monitors and told him I want my synths to sound as big but since I am trying to achieve this w/o hardware synths now I was at a loss as to how.
He has a really good ear and decided to help me by auditioning all the various compressors I have and he liked the DAS Comp AI the best.
He then told me to take 4 outs, 2 to the Compressor and 2 dry. Then mix the 4 channels together and tweak the Comp. He called this parallel compression and while it doesn't punch like the Slam, it did really boost my synths presence and fullness.
He especially liked the way SpaceF mixers had so many routing options.
Since I didn't care for the sound my Kontakt libraries sound using this technique, we decided to route it to where I could bypass the Comp or use it in parallel with the untreated tracks. Or just send the synth tracks to the comp only, and still be able to mix those in the mix out channels where the Kontakt sample reside.
The synths sound marvellous and SpaceF's mixers routings are just great for tricks like this.

Re: New AUX Mixers
I love parallel compression mixed (hehe) with a bit of expansion on one of the dry channels.
I've used this on guitar multi-tracking/comping.
It's also good for NOT needing reverb to 'fill' things out (or delay lines).

Hey all,
hope you had a nice week end !
I have posted a small list of the current components.

EDIT: it is the complete list of the current modules.

Thanks again for the list. Very useful.
