as I understand it, it's using Midi so you could build your own for Scope... ;)

bome's stuff is also rather useful in this context as well =]

the version that requires more than a postcard to register supports mapping from keyboard input etc.

Yes, Bome is good for key control.

I've used it in conjunction with MIDI-OX for translating MIDI data to DMX and video control for live shows.
It's all just protocol.
