Warp verbs and PCI usage

Post by grappa »

I've recently changed PC hardware and after completing the nightmare task of getting everything across I've been having a play.

I've noticed that some of my older projects with Warps great verbs which used to run on my old hardware now fall over at load with the dreaded PCI error which seems strange given that my new PC is more powerful?

Is there anything I can do to optimise or am I digging out more new hardware :)

the pc can be more powerful, but worse at pci bandwidth...

how many masterverbs can you get? what hardware did you use? do your cards share irqs with anything?

I don't think there's any 'current' multicore mobo that will be able to compete with even a > 10 year old BX chipset, let alone the Intel 815 and 865 :D
They don't put any efforts in that type of interface anymore, as there's barely any need for such devices in everyday use. Music production (in the sense a Scope system is typically used) is less than 1% on the market.

I have sweet memories of the Asus CUBX motherboard. Probably the best motherboard I ever had.

you're right - as it was predicted on Tom's Hardware May 17, 2000
...Der BX ist eine lebende Legende geworden. Gut möglich, dass man in einigen Jahren vom CUBX schwärmen wird wie heute von einem P55T2P4....
translation: the BX has become a living legend. Well possible that people will enthuse about it in a few years like we do about the P55T2P4 today :D

cheers, Tom
