The Cool Short Skirt

Post by bassdude »

This song is again all live instruments and no synths samples. Recorded via a RAMSA DA7 straight into scope at 44.1kHz (so wish I did not have to sell that desk!). The recording was kept dry as it is only a 3 piece. Only 3 mics on kit - 2 x AT4030 OH's and a Beyer Dynamic m201 TG on kick. Reverb was Timeworx EZverb. The only trick was 2 bus sent through a VMP4000 valve preamp. It was very quick to get a good mix in scope 4.0. Stock effects with some timeworx vintage eq.

More real bands posted please. :)

Excellente Trabajo...................Excellente.
Yes more live bands, I totally agree.
I want to record a live show at my gig but so far I can only record my sends.
The players are lazy and the group is sloppy.
It is not what I am used to, but I pray for rehersals.
Nice Job though Stu.

Thanks Jimmy, a live recording of your band playing would be great to hear!

ok, on this one you did a good job on the recording.

i like the mixes on both, but i'd like to hear a bit more grit in the hats, they're a little too gentle for that song imo. i generally like to cut off the hf anyway. i'm old and vinyl only went up to 8, maybe 10k... the guitars and vocals sound especially good and clean, the mix is interesting, but i'd have the drums a little bit more aggressive and louder if not more upfront, just a matter of taste. i like the overall sound of the drums very much though, especially the way you've mixed the toms. the cymbals are a bit thin and upfront for my taste, but they sound well recorded and mixed otherwise.

the main thing is that it's a good performance and a good recording of a good song.
