Scope will not start up - Hardware version 16 detected

Post by Kymeia »

Suddenly my Scope system will not load - I just get this error message and it says it can't access the Creamware hardware any more and that I need to upgrade the software!! I am running 4.5 - not updated to 5 yet but was waiting till it's solid. Is this some built in time limit to make people upgrade?

the message is not intelligent.
for some reason, the software and hardware are not communicating. you may need to reinstall the driver or reseat the card, or the motherboard or card itself may be faulty. were there any other changes made about the time this happened?

It happened after a crash (blue screen) - I rebooted the PC and Scope would not start

well, have you reseated the board?

I've seen that message (or similiar) only in context that the Pulsar/Scope was hidden from access.
It (in theory) could mean the card completely died, but in all (my) cases some hardware detection got messed.
One approach is to completely powerdown and discharge the computer. Switch it off, unplug the wall outlet, switch it on/off a couple of times with the wall-plug DISCONNECTED. This will discharge the buffer-caps of the powersupply, which otherwise have enough capacity to retain some memory contents.
Wait a minute and then replug and power on again.

cheers, Tom

Hi Kymeia
I am using winXP and had the same problem so following steps maybe can help:

- Scope does not work without administrator rights (RUNAS.exe works)

If the message appears (pop up) during scope is running so try this...
- Check the file attributes. Some Files have the attributes HSA, delete the H and the S attributes
scope dont' like the Hidden and System Files in some cases (Plugins, Synths ....)

hope it works
greetings from CH

I had to take my PC apart in the end and am putting it back together over the next couple of days. It looks like so far the cards do work (phew!) as I have cleaned and reseated them and am no longer getting the error massage but the whole system is overheating and needs a good clean out so there is more to do yet. The graphics card fan seems to have stopping working and as that is directly above one of the Creamware cards I wonder if it led to some sort of shutdown. If I can't get the fan working I might have to replace that.

Thanks for all your help
