I have 2 A16 Ultra Converters and each one is connected to a Scope PCI card. The newer A16U synchronizes almost immediately when I power it up and of course have also turned on my Music PC with Scope cards, and the sync led goes green straight away. But the older A16U takes around 5 minutes to do the same thing, or sometimes even longer. I used to have this connected via ADAT so thought that it might just take a bit longer to sync via that. But recently I changed my other Scope card plate to z-link and am now connecting the older A16U to that via z-link but it still takes ages for the sync led to turn green on that A16U, so it isn't that. Once the green light goes green everything works as it should and there done seem to be any other issues, but its just a bit strange that it should take so long to sync up.
Could this be due to older capacitors or some other component, or could it be the power supply. I guess I should eliminate that by swapping the power cables and see if that works.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
This problem has been mentioned before on PlanetZ. If I remember properly, there is no cure and only Soniccore can fix it. I hope I'm wrong.
The A16u is fantastic though. I

Re: A16 Ultra Slow to Synchronize when starting up
Hi CGF,
Yes I thought I saw a thread on it somewhere before but wasnt able to find it when I searched earlier, but will try again. I hope I dont have to send it back to be fixed, and can probably live with it for now but would be useful to know what the cause is. Anyway, thanks for the info and will try and find out more or will email SC support to see what they say.
Cheers
Tim

Re: A16 Ultra Slow to Synchronize when starting up
Just had another look, and found a couple of long threads on this issue. Yup it seems to be a problem that has happened to a few A16Ultra's and no one knows exactly what the cause is but several people reckon it might be an old cap which sounds plausible. Luckily it is fixable but only by sending to SC for repair. A damn nuisance though as that means shipping and repair costs and then studio down time. Oh well, will have to email SC and see what they suggest and go from there.
