Just installed Scope V5

Post by synthguy »

Almost every single plug in was blacklisted by cubase, except the shell/wrapper and VST clock for ModularIV.

Can this be addressed in any way or am I out of luck for XTC mode.

Also, the "shell" as I'm calling it or VZRecording.dll is only version 1.0 is that right or is there an updated version somewhere?

Would seem a bit odd since I was under the impression that the modules were all VST 2.4 compliant.

Hope someone can help

Thanks stardust.

I did round about what you said, I ran that little app but it didn't complete.

Regardless however I've had this situation before with things like powercore, cubase simply does not like certain plug ins, in particular those made for DSP systems.

Quite unfortunate for me, as what should happen I believe is, at worst I should be able to extract the library files and drop them in the directory myself and see if at least there is a GUI.

Now if SC system uses a wrapper, then already I'm afraid I may be lost, as that was the sole reason I did not buy into waves or other tryhard native systems, and went for UAD as an interim measure picking up SSL along the way (duende mini) for laptop use and of course TC system as the means of having choice but I've been wanting Sonic Core all along and finally when I have the chance to get decent hardware (gen 2) I'm knocked down by the software.

Unfortunately some big japanese firms often say "use this DAW" or here's a workaround, but I can't do that, cubase is no 1 and I won't sacrifice it for anything as MIDI programming is what I do and I need that drum map most of all but I want to get on board with SC, since there are so many unique properties (synths) that will just make my music shine.

G'day.

I deleted the blacklist.xml and allowed a re-scan but the same result prevails.

As I say this is not limited in any way to SC Platform.

It's just lucky for me at least that I've not put any money across and guess I won't until the problem is addressed.

Maybe it's to do with VSTIM/XTC, in that it's not properly implemented as mentioned here somewhere previously.

I'm really disappointed actually that I can't even see the GUI's so I can have a look at what might be possible, as even with USE Audio you can but it makes a terrible noise.

All the best.

synthguy, tbh the overwhelming majority of pulsarians use Scope OS instead of XTC mode. This is far more stable and versatile than just running the devices as plugins in your VST host... So I advise you to give Scope OS a try!

Just my 2 cents =]

Scope plugins work in Cubase in xtc mode!

Scope's IN xtc mode bfore opening Cubase and there are asio connections available to Cubase, correct?

you may have to manually enable the plugins if Cubase has been open while in Scope Mode, because Cubase disables unavailable plugs(xtc is not available when in Scope mode).

it's been some time since i used xtc mode, so perhaps someone in the xtc forum can help. there are certainly Cubase users here who use xtc mode. where are you guys?!

It doesn't surprise me but what is baffling is why the plugs are being blacklisted in the first place, which probably is because they are not really made for cubase at all and are for some proprietary system.

Can I suggest you fire it up in scope mode first to make sure your scope installation is working?

Are you saying that in fact there are two sets of plug ins, one for XTC mode and one for Scope Mode proper?

And what is VZRecording.dll anyway? It's showing as VST 1.0 and from Steinberg KB articles, that standard is no longer supported.

I hope you will find the problem.

Did you do a clean install of Cubase ? Yes
What scope version do you have ? latest
Did you install scope including XTC mode without error ? The little app inside the installed folder would not complete
Does normal scope mode run ? Have not tried
In which order did you install ? Cubase first or scope first ? Cubase then Scope software
Are all paths properly referenced in scopevst.cfg file ? I'm assuming that the GUI's for each dll should show "disabled" or something to that effect
......
Thank you

@garyb, it is a fully clean install. I just re-installed windows so can try it again but not game right now as I feel like all the other "modern" DSP based systems it should just install and not require any hardware in order to complete.

stardust wrote:Hi synthguy, thanks for the additional information.

So with Cubase 5 and scope 5 XTC runs which is confirmed by several users in here.
So you will be fine if you just spend the time and effort to set it up correctly.

1 question, 1 tip

- question: What do you mean with little app in the installed folder ?

There's an application that launches VSTIM so I'm guessing that it compiles native VST, eg strips off the Scope mode wrapper

- The usual installation process includes XTC when selected without an additional app launch ?

No

tip: You should do yourself a favor and launch normal scope mode and check if install is correct and devices are running in normal mode.

then lets see
Maybe I am best to wait for a sync plate, but does it still support adat or was it dropped like RME?

Hi synthguy,

I'd like to ask a silly question! Do you actually have any Creamware/Sonic Core hardware, or are you just trying to install the software without?

Thanks,
Will

w_ellis is spot on: are you trying to install the software with no card present?
