OK so first of all, b4 introducing myself, I want to apologize for opening a subject which was probably asked a thousand times b4, I'm just not too good with the search =\
Now I'll introduce myself
I'm Ofir from Israel and I stumbled across a Pulsar 1 sound card when my friend didn't want it because of constant software failure so I took it for my Vdrums (nicked it ).
Little did I know
I learned quite a lot about it but seemingly not enough as I can't seem to work out what to do in order to get everything working the best way possible.
I attached a pic with the routing I did for my MIDI controlling which is lacking because of huge latency.
An internet buddy told me I need to route it to the ASIO dest in order to make it faster but I just couldn't figure out the right routing =\ (the ULLI is already set to 13ms)
another thing; I'm using EZ Drummer with Sonar and in Sonar it allows me to choose between "creamware play/rec 1, 2 & 3" and no ASIO drivers there....probably because I didn't route things well.
Would LOVE some help you guys. I'm quite lost and I really wanna bang my drums. that's all I really want

you have to have asio modules in the routing window BEFORE Sonar is opened in order to have them available in Sonar. then, in Sonar's audio preferences, you must select asio as the driver type.

there are several asio types availabel in the software i/o menu, i'd use the asio2 24 or 32 bit source and the asio2 destination. you can right click on the asio source module, choose "surfaces", then "settings" and choose the number of ins and outs you want(ins go TO Sonar, outs come FROM Sonar). remember, you can connect, disconnect or reconnect the asio modules in the routing window any way or time you wish, but to change the TYPE of asio module or the number of channels, Sonar MUST be closed....

you can think of Scope as virtual reality. the routing window is the room that the hardware is in and Sonar is just a multitrack recorder in that room. the asio modules are the JACKS to connect wires to, just as though Sonar were a hardware harddisk recorder in your room, connected to a mixer and /or whatever else is in that room. anything that can be done in the realworld can be done in Scope, and the two worlds(Scope and the real one) connect with eachother throught he card's hardware i/o. use your imagination.

you may want to get a luna card or even a pulsar2 or 14 or 15 dsp card, the reason being that the later cards can do very low latencies to and from Sonar, like 4ms or less at 44.1k, while the older cards like your pulsar1 or the original 15dsp Scope cards can only do a minimum of 13ms latency at 44.1k. the lower latency makes playing vst instruments pretty much like playng hardware, while 13ms is less satisfactory, but is usable...

I did as u said, I think, and still Sonar won't give me the ASIO driver and this time it wouldn't recognize the midi output either for some reason.
Also, when I press the "open ASIO settings" tab....nothing happens =\

I heard about the possibility to buy those extensions u mentioned. Do u know where I might get one?

EDIT: check this out guys, I did the same thing in Fruity Loops and it works perfectly . the latency is almost imperceptible though I wouldn't mind getting one of those dsp cards.

I finally got my module working as a MIDI controller.
I am using EZ Drummer in Fruity Loops and I'm having a couple of problems.

1. My floors are received as cymbals one cymbal is assigned as a tom etc. plus some of the pads' sensitivity is really low.
-How do I reassign MIDI channels?
-What am I supposed to do with the sensitivity issue, is it only set up in the module itself?

2. The hi-hat has only 2 states. open and closed (of course) which don't even work too well. what's up with that?
I have a VH11 if it makes any difference.

3. No choking of the cymbals.

the midi cable's going from the module "midi out/thru" to the midi in is my pulsar 1
as i said, the midi works fine with ASIO in FL and now with Cubase too.
all I need now is to know these things:

OK, so now the only problem I have left is the hi-hat. only 2 states.
Found nothing about it in the manual.
My god, the vst sounds so much better than the module it's insane!!

You are talking to a drummer. You can edit the pad note and midi channel assignments...glad you got it.
This is my new drum rig, I use a TD-20 with a TDW-20 expanded module...best sounds I have ever had...I even had DDRUM 4...

I think the TD8 is only compatible with the FD7, at least that's all that is mentioned in the manual. You may need to verify on Roland's site, or netguyjoel may know.

Jeez, I just wish I had a TD9 instead of a TD6, and a VH-11. Of course, I'm strictly a wannabe drummer in a bass player's body...

The TD-20 was quite an investment...but worth EVERY penny.
I can select the wood, the depth, tuning, effects, the drum head, the muffling, the positions of the mics, including on the floor, overhead, or even the next room!
I know...a pretty sick drum rig...those cymbals are 1982-1983 stamped Zildjians...the REAL thing, before they started screwing around with the alloys...A, Z, K...etc etc...

The VH11 works perfectly on the module. The only difference it has on a TD8 from a TD12 and upwards is that it only has 4 states.
For some reason when I use it with EZ Drummer it has only 2 states.

u say the TD20 sounds better than the DDRUM4? interesting...
I was thinking about upgrading to a TD12 but now with these VST's working I think I'll keep my TD8 for a while

DDrum II. A real rim & drum head..10" toms and the floor tom...ha ha is a 12" and so are the (2) snares.
Phase II will be a stand up rig to the left of the photo w/ a Roland SPDS (2) Nimrods (2) Dingbats and (2) Hart Hammers & (6) more DDrum II pads, all commected to a Roland PM16. Behind the kit will be another sit down kit with 10 Simmons pads, and a variety of FX cymbals...trash, pangs, chinas...etc etc connected to another Roland PM16. The PM16s will be connected via MIDI to my XITE-1 loaded with STS2000 samplers, filled with a pretty huge library I've accumulated over the past 15 years...
I have all the pads, triggers and the PM16s, now I just need all the mounting hardware...the SPDS is under the towel... I have issues...
Stay tuned....later this year, when it is done, I will announce the completion and openning of my new post production/redcording/jamming facility. Plenty of pics will follow....
