A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

I'm just wondering what the potential pros and cons of putting 2 Luna II's (with adat expansion) into my G4 rather than 1 Pulsar. The main reason I would be doing it is for the i/o side, but I'm making several assumptions which I hope someone can confirm/deny.

1. 2 Lunas = 6 DSP's, which is the same as 1 Pulsar, so presumably it is equivalent in DSP power.

2. With the standardised 3.1 platform across all CW hardware coming up, there won't be any differences in the base OS for the cards.

3. Obviously I wont get the synth/effect bundle that comes with a Pulsar, but would still be able to use the full library of synths/effects available in the public domain for free.

4. The Scope 3.1 software should integrate the two cards completely re - routing environment etc.

5. I'll need some sort of connector between the two cards.

6. PCI bus traffic should be the only potential drawback.

Any info related to the above assumptions would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers, Bill.

Here, http://www.creamware.de/en/products/sfp ... efault.asp it says you miss out on mixer pack 1 (and this is a big thing} with luna, and you lose a slot with2xLuna vs. 1 Pulsar. Also check out i/o options 4 pulsar http://www.creamware.de/en/products/sfp ... rdware.asp

AFAIK, you are correct on all counts except #6 - the purpose of the STDM cable (answer to #5, which you will need to buy, or bargain from dealer) is to stop extra PCI bus traffic. It should not take extra PCI traffic between 2 lunas and 1 pulsar II - the only concern -you can only ever get one more creamware board (maximum of three in one system). so you may want to consider that. If I/O is really all you need, then dual lunas sounds good; however the synth/fx bundle is really nice, expecially the FX, so think about that one hard. I have pulsar I + luna II and love the combo (7 dsps). Pulsar I's are cheap on ebay now.

and wayne is right about the mixer - the pulsar mixer is the business and you won't get it . . .
