Sony Loops Orchestral 2: Modern

Post by braincell »

I came across a most unique collection of loops. It's samples of classical musicians in Moscow playing both solo and together phrases of symphonic music. I think it was composed specifically for being sampled. There is no information about the musicians or the music. It's labeled "modern" but I wish there was more dissonance.

Who would use this? Certainly not a classical composer because they are not into remixing samples. A producer/Hip Hop artist might use a few of the samples as a novelty.

While the fidelity isn't the best, (what do you want for $39?) I will have fun with this.

heh, interesting.. i guess symphonic samples in hiphop is more common than I remembered. lots of gothic sounding minor cadences. It's interesting that such a product got produced.

You can use a pitchshifter for more dissonance ;)

just an example of just how quantified everything, especially music, is today. hey, if the tv producer's calling for you know, that "modern clasical crap", a collection of appropriate royalty-free loops is important for getting it done by deadline...

There are lots of possibilities. It would be cool if they did this with a real symphony by a genius such as Beethoven. Record every phrase with a pause at the end of it. One of the things I love about recording my sax is that I have to breath which creates many edit points.

I also, as a circular breather, enjoyed that concept :)
