Mixer with Stereo Sends?
Hi there,
Is there a mixer with stereo sends and returns? I would like to send stereo synth signals to outboard stereo processors. I kind of faked it out so far, but stereo sends would be super.
Cheers

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
In the 2448 there is the Monitor circuit which could act as a true stereo send.
Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
SpaceF FP106C is great for live work where combining external hardware Analog Synths and Effects are needed.
There are many ways to do this, but I prefer using the method described below.
1) Determine what I/O's you will be using. ADAT, Analog, SP/DIF, MicPre's or AES/EBU.
2) In the Hardware tab load for example the ADAT, and AES/EBU Source & Dest. modules.
3) Go to Tools / External and load an External M or S module depending on mono/stereo.
4) Make the appropriate connections by right clicking empty insert slots.
5) You'll notice the I/O's disappearing on the modules in the touying window. This verify's the connections have been made. Name the Module, then save the module.
6) Go to My Computer C/Scope Xite-1/Devices/Tools
7) Drag & drop module into an AUX.
Step 7 only needs to be done when creating a module for the hardware synth or effect. After a project reset you can drag & drop from the Tools tab.
But the source and destination modules must be in the project window, or saved with the project.
Also worth mentioning. SpaceF AUX's are true stereo, and have bleedover and stacking capabilities. AUX 1 is the Pitch SHifter, AUX 2 is the PCM91 which will use Early Reflections ( scope DSP verbs aren't great at that yet ) and be blended with the Plate-X. I then can use AUX 3 with a quality hardware or software Gate to shorten the tails of the effect. AUX 3 has a knob that says AUX 2. I use max for bleedover and then Gate the effect. In the Channels this would show that AUX 2 w/o a Gate uses the AUX 2 knob, and for channels where the gate ius desirable AUX 3 knob would be used.
SpaceF's mixers are sick.
From now on you can drag and drop your hardware effects wherever and whenever yoiu want them.
And Alfonso is correct about the Monitor sends too.

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
Jimmy,
do FP mixers work ok in Xite? Is there a need of "specials" versions?
Thanks in advance

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
Negatory............
I do enjoy the LBH-X and FB5-X versions too. But to me the FP series is perfect for live or advanced recording scenarios where automation and special presets are needed.
Are you getting an XITE-1 too...?
Wow...if so I am impressed with all of you guys.
I had a real good year in 2007. I pre paid my Solaris and XITE-1 and also funded my film classes and provided some savings to hold me over.
But things are tough out there right now and yet I see S|C is back ordered for 6 weeks....
It's great news for all Scope people.
And I am proud of the guys who are taking the step forward.
If I wouldn't have pre paid my units I could have not afforded to buy one this year.
Our pay scale has diminished, and I am having to do multiple gigs just to pay for my EIS and Modular classes this Semester.
Vegas did have record numbers this New Years. Last year was dismal.

Yep, it's on its way.XITE-1/4LIVE wrote:Are you getting an XITE-1 too...?
I could order it as soon as I got S|C deal notif because I was saving some since April.
Didn't they propose that kind of deal though, it wouldn't have been reachable to me: selling old boards would have meant no scope projects for a while (weeks/months?).
Personally, I am glad that some guys booked that train when it was only a prototype (not even maybe)

This looks exactly like what I need! Thanks. Does it work with the XITE-1?

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
Hi all,
Right now, I think it can be loaded and used (i am not too sure) but, as far as i know, there are a few parts that could be modified to maximize compatibility. I planned to do it anyway, wether it is needed or not.
FP mixers can be improved for xite, due to a module that I used in the past and that may cause uncompatibilities or even simply forbid loading.
This modification will render auxiliary effect parameters void, meaning that, if you do/did presets for auxiliary - either in the Aux-Preset list or in the Main preset list - they will have to be redone. This may include projects too (projects will work but aux may not be restored at all). So may be it is better for you to begin with an "approved xite version".
I am not at home right now and will be back in a couple of days.
Just to let you know, i must absolutely finish another mixer for LBH-X step-sequencer (mega-top-priority for me), and will probably have the time to work on the FPs next week-end.Then parameters will have to be tested. Duration of testing is always uncertain, but with the FP mixer it cannot be that long... 2 or 3 weeks soundsmore than enough... beta testers on xite are a very rare and precious ressource.
I think there is a download of the FP Mixers basic install on S|C FTP, that you could use for demo puposes. The problem with me is that i always like to come back and change things here and there, add or improve features etc, so what you find on SC FTP might not be the latest version.... Also, sorry for not offering any demos on my site, but the site had real problems recently and I haven't yet found the time to remake the missing parts. Demos are devices on their own right, it is quite hard and time consuming to make one for each version (that's why i don't do it, i always have something better to do for non-demo devices)...
Also, about FP mixers, please note that the MB4-II device is NOT included: only the MB4-I is given as a freebie and is not supported but should work ok because it doesn't use this particular circuit of mine (as i've been asked recently, so....).
see you
Mehdi

Good news Mehdi, as I'll probably be getting one of the FP's for Xite soon.

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
You know I don't see a single problem with the FB5-X or the latest FP series.
I personally would buy the FP series now. It loads up on half of a chip and can take several plugs before it reaches the new 7000 number limit in the left column of the DSP Meter. And then it will span DSP's but I prefer my mixers stay on a single DSP.
My Master effects insert Presets and AUX's work fine, but I never use those. The presets that are important to me are channel related. Insert Loads that allow bypassing and selected channel insert effects.
The inserts allow loading what you need and the presets simply click off and on the effect. No load times are important for live work.
Also use external Hardware effects or the routing window for the AUX effects that are DSP heavy like the reverbs and Chorus-X ( amazing quality ). Then use Dynamics for AUX stacking or EQ's or even more reverbs and delays.
Maybe it's just my opinion, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy the FB's or FP's immediately.
The other mixers are boring, They are ugly, they don't sound as good, and they lack the extensive SpaceF MIDI control.......Not dissing my beloved S|C, but I call 'em like I see 'em.......pretending is for schoolboys.

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
Thanks IsiStoy,
Thanks Jimmy,
it's just that others have asked me when a FP mixer for Xite will be ready, I thought it could be made at the "right format", may be it will allow to load a big effect inside the Aux if needed.
(by the way, for those who are on Scope pci, the current Scope version of the FP mixers are the right versions to use).

Re: Mixer with Stereo Sends?
I'd love to be able to beta test, but unfortunately I don't think I'd have enough time to devote do a good job beta testing. Just yell when it's fully baked and I'll buy em.
