cset.ini edit in v5?

Post by Janni »

Just had a closer look to my dsp-load window and noticed that my cards are in "wrong order".
Then I remebered that I had to edit the numboards in cset.ini and I'm wondering if this
trick is still appropriate to optimize dsp distributions? Anybody expieriences?

A few years ago i had the same issue in v4.0.
I rearranged the board sequence in cset.ini.
DSP distribution optimization works perfectly.

you can add lines with boards order,
example:
[board0]
boardid=1

also, you can set number for [host] board and
number of boards = ...

i have 3 cards and i must set proper order, when loading scope5 project , so i can load
large projects, between 12-14DSP's, without DSP's "optimization" window error.

best,

Can anyone explain this a little more?

I have two newer Luna cards (3 dsp each) and an older Pulsar card (4 dsp). What text should I have in the cset.ini file?

Thanks!

None.

Depends, i had problems if not adding those lines [board0] for my 3 cards,
1 X Luna II and 2 X Pulsar XTC,
without proper cards order i have problems loading big projects, without errors.

i have exactly the same order.
my pulsar2 first and my scope pro 2nd,
but it works better this way for me.

if i edit cset ini and put the 14dsp first in order then the modules load a little slower and also create many dsp overload messages.

check it out first.
pulsar2 1st might be better for you as well.

i also thought that the 14dsp pro card should be the 1st in order, because it is the "big one", but..... it does not count this way.

for example: polyphony at most synths can be raised much more easily without dsp messages

so, check first!!

also some gigabyte mobos that have 2 pci slots like gigabyte dq6-x48, or dq6-p965 show opposite order of the cards.
if i put the 14dsp card closest to cpu and the 6 dsp card 2nd...... the order appears: 6dsp 1st, 14dsp 2nd in dsp load.

as i told you this order gives me better perfomance so i keep it this way.
the only thing that confuses me is the order of the cards at these boards.

for example in older boards i have used it was always 1st....counting from the top closest to cpu pci slot: asus p800deluxe. abit ic7, gigabyte ds3-p965

gigabyte dq6 boards that have 2 pci slots show up side down the order

Thanks guys!
I just swapped the cards and it seems to run smoother with the scope card beeing first.
(Like I had it in v4.5).
Maybe it has smthng to do with the IOs I use. My A16Ultra is connected to the ZLinks of my scope board.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!! ;-)
