I just registered at http://www.Soundcloud.com, which seems like a nice site for hosting/spreading music. It has unlimited file size and lots of added functionality towards your track etc. You need to register to host music, but not to listen.
As an example of how the player works, here's a link to a remix by a friend of mine:
http://soundcloud.com/gautehjartaaker/r ... s-soppstep
And here's the link to our group:
http://soundcloud.com/groups/planet-z
This might help out with file size/bandwith usage towards the music section?
edit: hmm, seems you can upload without registering as well, but maybe just to single persons...
Oh and it supports AIFF, WAVE, FLAC, OGG, MP3 and AAC files.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
Re: Soundcloud (Planet Z Section)
It seems great. I wonder if they can stay in business. The wave thingy is ugly though. I see someone is already hosting a podcast there.
Re: Soundcloud (Planet Z Section)
I'm in! I like this soundcloud very much and I think they will survive... They have so many cool artists meanwhile...
Turntablerockers e.g. uses this to test the response on their new mixes, tracks...

It's a smart idea.
mp3's are the fastest and most convenient way to get your tunes out there.
Thanks, Brotha' Man Piddi/NTN.

Re: Soundcloud (Planet Z Section)
other than being in one centralized location, how will this be different than the music section of planetz forum?
Anyways, looks like a good idea.
Scope mixed songs
Scope synths (exclusive).
Thanks,
Greg

"other than being in one centralized location, how will this be different than the music section of planetz forum?"
Well, first off the wave view has a smart comment feature where you can put "timed comments", like if you have a comment on a delay in a certain section you can highlight that portion and put your comment on the timeline.
Also, they accept the the majority of used audio formats with unlimited file size, so if you want to put your 10 minute piece in .wav format at 100mb size that's no problem.
And the centralized storage means you can embed a player on your own site, which saves bandwith and storage cost for you as well.

Re: Soundcloud (Planet Z Section)
I'm considering dropping my paid Liberated Syndication host for this but I'm afraid.
I noticed at the bottom it says soundcloud now has integration with wordpress.com so you can use their "good-looking SoundCloud player". That's a lie, it's ugly as sin! By the way if anyone wants a great free website, I highly recommend wordpress.com. It's a little technical but worth it. Hey we are all geeks here right?

I see the point of it now but still, when they call it good looking that was meant as a joke right?

It's similar interface as Indaba. I like the color scheme in Indaba better, but it's only relative.
